38yrs old with 15yr old son....

Dear Doctor,
I stopped BC pills (femodette) in June 2010.
I have regular periods since but
period is light and short (1-2 days).
Trying to concieve almost 6 month but unsuccesfull.
I feel every month symptoms of ovulation.
I'm 38 y.o, I have son, 15y.o. am I have a chance
or is it early menopause? Can long term BC pills affect levels of progesterone?

Hi, and thanks for your medical question on eHealth forum!

You are probably suffering from secondary infertility due to a cause usually infection or blocked tube or endometriosis or STD or PCOD or low sperm count or infection in male like prostatitis, or varicoceles in males.

If you are ovulating then you can become pregnant. If you are not ovulating, then after 6 months and after appropriate tests, drugs like clomiphene or progesterone, as the need may be, will have to be started to stimulate the pituitary to release FSH and LH.

Since a confirmed diagnosis cannot be given on net please discuss these possibilities with your gynecologist once. Hope this helps. Take care!
