Can anyone help with this.

My son is 13yrs old and suffers from tight chest pain during physical activity. although he has mild asthma he is very fit and plays football training 3 times a week and playing weekends. This tightness has just began over the past couple of months. He came home from training and couldn't take a drink of water as it was hurting his chest. he has been to the doctor on numerous occasions with diagnoses of inflammation of chest wall, costochondritis, immune system low, chest infection and asthma. we have tried changing his bed, anti inflammatory, complete rest, but when he starts to exercise again it starts.... we are at our wits end if anyone can offer advice we would be grateful.

Chest Pain Answer A28152

Welcome to the ehealthforum and I am really glad to help you out.

Pain and tightness in chest could result from problems with any of the organs or muscles in the upper body mainly the heart or the lungs. since your son is having a history of asthma, so it needs fresh evaluation as it can be due to worsening of asthma.

Digestive problems such as heartburn and inflammatory digestive disorders can also cause chest pain during exercise, especially after eating. So please check it whether your son is having this chest pain after eating food.

Also get an EKG done and consult a respiratory physician as he may need medication for asthma.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
