49 years old , periods like clock work

I am 49 years old, up until last month my periods have been like clock work, This time it started and was very light (not the norm for me)after a few days-nothing, then 5 days later U was at work and I felt a gush...and I knew there was a problem, I made it home,I had bled everywhere..also there was a small clot, after that initial gush it has gone back to very light..I have no cramping or pain...also I have no insurance! Help

Slight irregularity of periods with periods coming heavy at one time and light at another can be due to menopause. It is also possible that you have fibroids in uterus. Watch for a cycle or two. If this persists you will need to consult a gynecologist.

A complete hormonal panel (estrogen, progesterone, FSH, LH, prolactin, thyroid) may be required. Hope this helps. Take care!
