Wisdom tooth extraction and vaginal bleeding (Page 1)

I have two wisdom tooth extracted yesterday at 9am and found that i had vaginal bleeding (like what I usually have before and after period) in the afternoon at around 3pm. Today i found that there is brown vaginal discharge, not blood anymore. My period just ended last Wednesday so it shouldn't be my regular period. My dentist said they are not related but I guess there must be a reason...please help thanks!!

They are not related. It sounds like some spotting and/or old left over menstrual flow that just found a reason to come out.

I have just heard about something similar that happened to someoane I know. She had a tooth extraction 2 days after her period ended and when she got home she started bleeding again. I wonder if this is just pure coincidence.
As far as I know the relation between tooth extraction and menstruating is somehow reverse : if you have your tooth extracted during your menstruation it might take longer for the wound to clot , thus heal .

i just had a tooth extracted, it was a difficult extraction, very painful, I was irritable after, two days later I started my period one week early and I am very regular-every 28 days. I do think its related, maybe because it was traumatic...having a tooth violently yanked out is traumatic to the body, maybe causes a hormone shift. I know that some people experience diabetes after trauma, like breaking a bone, because the shock causes their hormones to get screwed up.

Spotting following wisdom teeth removal.
The same thing happened to me. I just had three wisdom teeth removed and experienced light spotting 24 hours after the surgery. I never get light spotting and I still have about one week to go until I expect to get my next period. I did not have general anesthesia, I requested local anesthesia for the procedure and have been on 400mg of ibuprofen every 4 hours and 500 mg of amoxicillin three times daily.

Got my wisdom tooth extracted yesterday and started spotting today and I finished my period two weeks ago. Thought I was crazy but I guess not. I'm sure it's because our bodies were under stress therefore causing a shift with hormones... Who knows or maybe a coincidence as long as I know I'm not alone

vaginal bleeding after wisdom tooth extraction
I had my son 3 months premature. I only bleed for about a week... Then my period took 9 weeks to start, my period lasted 3weeks it slowly stopped. I had my last wisdom tooth pulled on 06/04/12 and I got home and I had heavy flow, the next morning. So I am not sure what is going on but I am calling my Main Doctor on Monday to see what is going on. BC now I have dry socket and I am on the pill..... !!!!!! Sad Good luck to everyone!

I have the same thing right now. my period is 12 days early and I am on birth control.

My only explanation is this, the extraction of wisdom teeth or other surgery causes a great deal of stress on your body. During the healing process, your body's natural balence is interupted, this stress and disruption in your natural cycle has probably caused some spotting, or has caused your period to come early. keep taking your regular birth control and if the bleeding lasts longer than normal or you feel more pain than normal see a doctor, otherwise it is probably just caused by the stress on your system.

Wisdom teeth & spotting
Just had wisdom teeth pulled yesterday and brown watery spotting started last night, not like a period but still bleeding? Too many people with same symptoms so anyone with a brain can see its related, very puzzling though, who would be female by choice?

Tooth Extraction and Irregular Period
Same thing happening o me. I had a tooth extracted a few weeks ago right before my period. Very painful, had dry sock etc. When my period started it was very light, only spotting. It went away for about two days and now Im back to spotting. It has been two weeks like this. I am very regular, every 28 days by the calendar, so this is alarming to me as well. Right now Im going to chalk it up to stress and hormones. If it doesn't get regular, I am going to see gyn. about it.

Oh thank God I found this forum I thought I was going crazy. I just had my wisdom teeth taken out (like 3 of them) last friday and on the following Tuesday I started with light bleeding and now a regular period. The crazy part is my period finished 2weeks ago and I'm regular because I'm on birth control. I don't know maybe it has to do with something of our hormones.

Tooth extraction and spotting
I just had 2 wisdom teeth extracted yesterday and am spotting today. I don't know if it will be a full period, but it startled me anyway! I am on the pill and am not due to start for 2 weeks. I have had other surgery and did not experience this. I guess tooth extraction is much more traumatic on the body!

I had four wisdom teeth removed on the 16th and I had a very light bloody discharge for a lil under a week. I am due for my next period right now and I haven't had any signs of it. I'm concerned and scared to talk to my mom about it because the first thing she will ask is if I'm pregnant and sexually active. HELP!

Hi there,

I've had two bottom wisdom teeth removed in 2012 (I was 34) a week after my period. 30 min after the procedure I got another period and also started bleeding inside my fallopian tubes and pelvis (didn't know at that stage) - almost died. Had surgery a month later and both tubes were damaged beyond repair. Landed up with a hysterectomy this year because of recurrent corpus luteum hemorrhages. I found out that it's a platelet function/ aggregation disorder that caused this bleeding after tooth extraction. Hope this helps.
