will 4yr old ever walk or talk? local dr's say she is ok

User Profile
I have a 4 years old beautiful niece who seem to grow normaly but the only problem is that she cant walk nor talk. All the local doctors have indicated that they cant detect what seems to be wrong. She makes only sounds of a 9 months old baby. Please help me, it breaks my heart when I look at her crawling with her buts while doctors are saying she is normal. Do you think she will ever walk or talk?

Welcome to e health forum.

Usually a normal child should be able to stand on his/ her legs by the age of 9 - 11 months age. Ability to walk develops by 12months. Ability to run and climb stairs well by 2 - 2.5 years.

By the history given , it seems that your niece may be lagging behind in her developmental milestones.

She should be evaluated by a pediatrician and a ENT doctor (for evaluation of her speech abilities). A psychological assessment will also help to rule out if the issue is psychological or neurological.
