where do the eggs go?

maybe I'm just plain stupid- but I'm undergoing IVF cuz of a TL 18 years ago. I'm 40 and the doctors said it's still fine to do... ok so my qestion is...the tubes are cut, burned, clipped, buried, etc. So when the Ovaries shoot out an egg each month- where does it go? I mean the tubes are blocking it from going to the uterus and being fertilized or not right? So, my question is- where do the eggs go??? looking

Hi! Thanks for the question on the forum.

This is a very valid point you raised. After tubal ligation, egg is still released by one ovary each month. It either goes into the tube or into the abdominal space we all peritoneal cavity and finally disintegrates there. The end products of disintegration are cleared by the body's cleansing mechanism.

Hope this helps.
