when is it safe to start TTC after the implanon removal? Are there any known birth defects if you start TTC a few days after having the implanon rod removed?

Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum,
After you come off the birth control, your fertility levels would take about 1-3 month’s time to return back to normal. Sometimes it can vary upto 1 year’s time. If you get your periods after stopping with the birth control, it would suggest possibility that you are ready for ovulation/egg release from ovary and you can safely proceed with pregnancy plans. You can also try to proceed with pregnancy plans without waiting for periods. There are no reports of having birth defects or anomalies in children born who were conceived immediately after stopping with birth control use.
Take care.
