I have problems with short term memory, like when i get an information or get directions i forgot them quick. But if i retain a information i remember it for long time so my long term memory it's good i think. I process information quite slow,ex. when i watch a movie it's hard to keep pace with the story and text. Hi, and thanks for your query on eHealth forum!

Certain types of epilepsies and seizures and sleep disturbances cause short term memory loss along with tiredness or fatigue. Chronic infections too are known to precipitate memory loss. For this you can try yoga and meditation. Disorders of the hypothalamus, chronic fatigue syndrome and psychiatric disorders like depression too cause similar symptoms.

Apart from sleep studies, EEG, you may need cognitive tests like mini-mental state examination (MMSE) or Folstein test. Since a confirmed diagnosis cannot be given on net please consult your doctor regarding this. Hope this helps. Take care!
