What purpose does Hucog 5000 Inj serve?

User Profile
hello dr.
I am 30 yr old with 1 yr married life.I am currently 10 wk pregnant. my 1st ultrasound done on 14 dec showed an early live intrauterine gestation of 7wk5d+-7 days acc to CUA.The cardiac activity was normal & regular (167bpm).
I had a D&C earlier in feb 2012 @ 9 wk gestation due to TORCH +ve. Now TORCH & other investigations are normal. But my gynecologist has asked me to take Hucog 5000 iu biweekly until the completion of 1st trimester. Is it due to the previous history? What purpose does this Inj serve?
My dr has also prescribed me Susten 200 bd, Folinext, Cobadex CZS and Doxinate because I am having severe nausea & vomiting during evening. Also I don't feel like eating anything. My mouth has a constant bad taste. I also experience bloating & gas in evenings. Can you please suggest something. My dr says its normal & common & would persist for the whole of 1st trimester.
Please advise. Thanks in advance.

First Trimester of Pregnancy Answer A41273
Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum,
Doxinate is usually prescribed to control nausea and vomiting of pregnancy. if there has been previous early pregnancy loss, HCG injection is given to prevent chances of recurrence. If worried, you can consider getting serial HCG estimation done to look at the HCG levels. If levels are rising/doubling up within 48-72 hours, then it will indicate that pregnancy is going smoothly and there is no need for supplements. The other symptoms that you describe are common symptoms experienced by women during pregnancy (for some, these subside after 12-16 weeks). If worried, you may consider taking second opinion from another gynecologist. Be in regular monitoring and follow-up with your treating doctor/gynecologist and report any new/abnormal symptoms immediately. Drink plenty of water. Take adequate rest. Maintain healthy diet.
Take care.
