Been for an ultrasound but nothing showed up and am hesitant about going to a nerve specialist. As it will come back as non-specific. Is it possible just to have really wrists and fingers from little, ring and middle. Which still keeps me awake at night or I can't get to sleep.
How can I make them right??

lea34,

Numbness, tingling, and pain in the small and ring fingers comes from compression of the ulnar nerve. The ulnar nerve can be compressed at the elbow (cubital tunnel syndrome) or at the wrist (at Guyon's canal).

It is not uncommon for patients with an irritated ulnar nerve to have these symptoms at night. When we sleep, we tend to bend the elbows, placing our hands up around our heads (under the chin or behind the head). With acute flexion of the elbow for an extended time, the ulnar nerve goes to sleep. The symptoms may awaken the patient.

However, the condition can also come from the wrist. Here it is usually direct compression on the palm of the hand that causes the nerve to go to sleep. So, resting your chin in the palm of the hand is a common cause of compression of this nerve.

You are also correct, in that, if your symptoms are intermittent, electrical studies will usually not be confirmatory. However, a thorough neurological evaluation will usually be able to tell exactly where the problem is coming from.

You state you had an ultrasound, but not of what structure. If someone was looking at the median nerve (carpal tunnel syndrome), your symptoms of the small and ring finger bothering you, do not go along with that problem. Carpal tunnel syndrome affects the radial sided fingers (thumb, index, middle fingers).

Good luck.
