Welcome to ehealthforum and thanks for writing

Gall bladder surgery is one of the most common and safe surgery. If the gall stones are big and painful then it is always advisable to get them removed as later they can cause other complications.Since the gall bladder stores bile(it is produced by liver)which is essential for digestion of fats after its removal it is just released in the intestines and is not stored. So liver continues the secretion.

Though about 60 to 70 % of patients do not exhibit long term side effects but some common ones which can be present in some are diarrhoea, irritable bowel syndrome and rarely gall stones are formed again. It does not have any effect on pregnancy and conception.

Hope it helps!
