What causes a pounding bradycardia? Almost even feels like irregular beat with extra or skipped beat? It's at rest especially with lying down. Has happened before but for shorter amount 3-5 mins verse an hour or more now for past couple days!! Used to think was from dehydration when it occasionally would happen for just few minutes but do not believe this is the case. Thank you

Heart Disease and Heart Attack Answer A19526
Hi,

Welcome to the forum. I am really glad to help you out. You seem to be suffering from tachycardia and not bradycardia. When taken at rest, a normal adult's pulse can be anywhere from 60 to 100 beats per minute.

Anything over 100 is technically defined as a tachycardia. Tachycardia at rest can be found in anxiety, stress, nervousness, panic attack, after a large meal, exercise, high or low BP, paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia, heart disorders, hyperthyroidism and anemia.

Your boyfriend can consult a physician and get ECG and stress echo done. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations, and the answer is based on the medical information provided.

For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
