Welcome to ehealthforum,
The alteration in the vaginal discharge smell, consistency and appearance during your menstrual cycle could be in response to the hormonal peak. If other symptoms like foul smell, itching, burning, discomfort, rashes etc are associated, then infective causes could be suspected. It is difficult to comment on the cause for your symptoms without examination. Consider visiting your doctor/gynecologist for examination and vaginal smear test to confirm/rule out infective causes. If infective cause is detected (and if you are sexually active) get your partner also treated simultaneously to prevent re-infection and avoid having intercourse while being on treatment. Drink plenty of water. Use loose cotton undergarments and avoid tight fitting clothes. Avoid vaginal douching, use of harsh soaps or perfumes/deodorants in the area.
Take care.
