we both have a rotten smell after sex in fertile time

User Profile
My husband and i have been trying to get pregnant for 6 months. Everytime we have sex during my fertile time and he ejaculates inside of me i end up with a smell. It's not fish just smells rotten. His testicals and penis smell the same way for days. I am trying the peroxide rinse. not sure what to do. How do I know if it has caused PID and prevent it from happening again?

Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum,
Avoid self medication. Visit your doctor/gynecologist for thorough examination and get vaginal swab/smear test done to confirm/rule out infective cause, and if infection is detected, get started on suitable treatment, and take the probiotic after finishing with other medications. Avoid vaginal douching, or use of harsh soap or perfumes in the area. Use loose cotton undergarments and avoid use of tight fitting clothes. Avoid sweat accumulation. Keep area clean and dry. If infective cause is detected, and if you are sexually active, get your partner also treated simultaneously to prevent chances of re-infection, and avoid having intercourse while being on treatment. On an average, women get pregnant within 3-4 months of trying. If you are not successful in your pregnancy plans within 6 months to 1 year of trying, you should consider getting infertility work-up done to rule out any underlying causes for inability to conceive. Treatment as appropriate would be started to help you get pregnant based on your further evaluation results. Be in regular monitoring and follow-up with your treating doctor/gynecologist and report any new/abnormal symptoms immediately.
Take care.
