User Profile
Hi, After using Methotrexate for 6 months (once in a week) I have been diagnosed with very low blood count. Haemoglobin 4.5, WBC 1600 and Blood Platelets 8000. Now I am admitted and have received blood and platelets tansfusions with intravenous antibiotics and folinic acid to cure however my condition is still not improving. I am admitted from last 12 days. Please help and advise if you know the cure.

Leukemia Answer A35687
Hi,
Welcome to the ehealthforum and I am really glad to help you out.

What you are having are side effects of methotrexate namely methotrexate induced anemia and these can be reversed with complete stopping of the medicine. But the symptoms improve gradually even after stopping this drug.

You have been given the right treatment with blood and platelet transfusion and you should continue with it.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
