Vaginal Problem after giving birth.

Since giving birth to my son 19 months ago (vaginal delivery with use of mid cavity forceps), I just dont feel like I am even nearly back to normal. My perenial area feels constantly swollen and there is a slight lack of sensation. This causes problems when I go to the toilet. The other problem is that I feel that my vagina has been left "too open" after my stitches - its twice the size it originally was. I showed the nurse at the family planning clinic and she agreed completely with me about the repair job to my vagina and recommended I see my GP. My GP says that I am normal! I don't believe this. I feel like I have been butchered. My sexual life is also destroyed. My hubby takes no interest in me due to its size.He says it wont give him pleasure...why it happens??what i need to do??

Some insensitive husband you have. I know a lot of women who give birth and decide not to have episiotomy stitches. And they're fine. I believe that the vagina repairs itself. But one thing I am sure is that our bodies are never the same after we have given birth. There would always be some kind of difference, and it's a matter of accepting that.

But if you feel that the difference is really beyond normal, go see another gynecologist for a second opinion.
