upper respiratory inflammation. nothing has gotten better

I lost my voice on Monday 08/08 and it is now 08-12. I went to the doctor when it first happened and they prescribed me prednisone for upper respiratory inflammation. nothing has gotten better and I have finished my 5 day cycle of the medication. and now my throat continuously feels tight especially while I lay down making it hard to sleep.
other symptoms include
sore throat
dry cough
coughing up mucus

I read your question and i understand your concern. These are mere sore throat symptoms., prednisolone should be followed by ibuprofen, salt water gargles, garlic water mouth rinses and warm comforting beverages for the relief.
