two weeks late annd having a tanish/light brown discharge

User Profile

I am two weeks late on my period and i'm having a tanish/light brown color discharge. Today ive had some mild lower abdomen cramping. I have taken 2 pregnancy tests and both are negative. I am wondering if there is a possibility of me being pregnant. My husband and i have been trying for 10 months now with no luck. We already have 1 son who is 2 years old.

Welcome to ehealthforum,
Delayed periods, brown discharge, abdominal cramps could be suggestive of possibility of early pregnancy. Urine pregnancy test (UPT) kits usually start showing positive results after about 20 days post-conception (roughly corresponding to about a week after your missed periods). The UPT kits are calibrated ones, so unless the hormone levels in urine reach a certain level, they do not show positive results. Sometimes they can also keep showing false negative results. Blood/serum HCG level estimation is accurate. UPT should always be done on early morning first urine sample as the concentration of pregnancy hormone HCG is believed to be highest in this sample. Wait and watch for your next periods. Look out for development of any other new symptoms if pregnancy is suspected. If you do not get your periods within 10 days of expected period dates, or if you get abnormal periods or if you develop new symptoms suggestive of pregnancy, consider visiting your gynecologist for thorough examination (to confirm pregnancy related changes/signs in body) and blood/serum HCG level test (to confirm/rule out pregnancy accurately). Take adequate rest. Drink plenty of water. Maintain healthy diet. Be in regular follow-up and monitoring of your treating gynecologist/obstetrician and report any unusual/abnormal/new symptoms immediately.
Take care.
