Trying To Conceive at Age 35

So, I've read and heard all the 'problems' that can occur getting pregnant later in life. Personally, I was never 'ready' for a child, but now I'm 35 (husband is 39) and I'm starting to want this! I've been on birth control since I was 18. Recently I've been put on the mini pill b/c of my age (and I smoke). It's really messed up my monthly cycles (on period for two weeks, then off a week, then on again).
1) is there any way to see if my eggs are even good
2) what is likely hood I can get pregnant after being on pill for so long
3) what are the odds of child having medical issues do to my age (and possibly my husbands age)

Thanks all!

hi deener, i was on the mirena coil for a couple of years, had it out because i wanted to try for a child with my partner, didnt really hold out much chance of it happening,i was (still am) overweight so did not want to go to my doctor for help, as i knew he would tell me to lose the weight before offering to help...so i brought a copy of 'fertility and conception' by zeta west, and realised just how much i didnt know about trying to conceive.. i took agnus castus(chaste berry, vitex)to regulate my periods,at first i felt dizzy on them and had pms type symptoms, i also took evening primrose caps up to ovulation and nuan gong yun zi wan the whole time, they are chinese herbal tablets that warm the womb ready for implantation and help with conception,, i used preseed as my cervical mucus was never the right consistancy around ovulation, and i basically learned about my body, best positions, and had my partner on zinc and vitamin c..i think i did more than that as well but everything i used was natural.. i got pregnant the second month!but i did get a cheap menopause test off ebay as well to just see if i still had good eggs, its only a rough guide but i felt better knowing that it said my levels were ok. if i have made any spelling mistakes i am sorry but in a hurry dont have time to correct them now....h x

wow! you really went all out! good for you! yesterday was my first day not to take my pill. I'm just really tired of being on my period. Today is day 8 - and I only had a week off - and before that was on for 2 weeks! I'm not sure if I will get preg. I'm not going to do anything to try and help it - but it's okay if it happens. I just think I was on the pill for so many years, that if I do get pregnant, it'll probably be awhile - but who knows!!First order is to get off my period - LOL.
Menopause test huh? How does that work? Interesting...I'll have to check into that.
Thank you for responding!!
