Trying to conceive and the test shows a very faint line.

Hi, i and my husband are trying to conceive for 6 momths now. I got my last periods on 22 oct. My cycle is of 27-29 days. My periods are regular and it is never delayed. But this time i haven't got my periods yet. I took augmentin 625 for 3 days on 26th to 28th. I tried pregnancy test at home and it shows a very faint line. I am really confused whether i am pregnant or the delay in periods is because of the medicine. My doc asked me to wait for sometime and then have a blood test. Also i am having paracetamol for past three days as i had fever. Is it ok to go for a blood test, while i am on paracetamol?

Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum.
Stress of infection and medication use can cause delay in periods, but this will not affect the urine pregnancy test results. If you have got faint positive line, it is important to rule out chances of getting evaporation line. If your periods are late, and if you have got positive results, consider ruling out false positive results due to evaporation line. If you still suspect pregnancy chances, visit your doctor/gynecologist at the earliest for thorough examination (to confirm pregnancy related changes/signs in body) and blood/serum HCG level test (to confirm/rule out pregnancy accurately). If pregnancy gets ruled out, further evaluation would be done to look for underlying cause for your delayed/missed periods. Treatment as appropriate (based on examination findings and evaluation results) would be started to help you regulate your periods. Be in regular monitoring and follow-up with your treating doctor/gynecologist and report any new/abnormal symptoms immediately. Drink plenty of water. Take adequate rest. Maintain healthy diet and lifestyle.
Take care.
