Trying multiple psychotropic medicines

User Profile
I've been depressed because of how many psychotropic (psych) medicines I've had to try. I've had to try over 25 and recently am trying Pristiq pretty soon. I've been with my psychiatrist for a couple years now and he knows that this time of year is poor for my mood and sleep. I'm doing pretty poorly with my mood lately. I don't feel motivated to do anything and my usual activities like exercising outside and playing video games with my friends isn't even appealing now. I have quit eating as much and I don't have much appetite to eat, and I've lost around 8 pounds from this. I am feeling sad all the time and my life is dragging on and I can hardly keep up with all of its demands some days. I try to self-medicate with stimulants sometimes and I know I shouldn't but I feel so down I don't know what to do. I also drink more than I should (of energy drinks not alcohol), but I'm afraid I may begin drinking alcohol if I don't get help for my depression. I recently quit all my meds.

Thank you for asking at Ehealth forum!

I read your question and i understand your concern. Depression can be challenging. management is multifocal. Your psychiatrist, you, people around you, environment altogether need to help you out. Cognitive behavioural therapy, religious gatherings, family gathering, out door games, staying busy, vocational recreational rehab and psychotherapy sessions with compliant use of antidepressants will help.

I hope it helps. Stay in touch with your healthcare provider for further guidance as our answers are just for education and counselling purposes and cannot be an alternative to actual visit to a doctor.
Take care
