Trouble orgasming on pill

I have been on birth control for the first time for only 2 months and I have not be able to have an orgasm, I have a good sex drive still and but I can not climax as hard as my boyfriend and I try. It's really making things with our relationship hard. I was wondering if these side effects will go away after 3 months on the pill or if I should look into switching or going off the pill completely if I can not have a normal sex life?

Amanda, Do you still orgasm when you masturbate? And from oral sex?

It can be that your boyfriend just adjusted his technique slightly, especially if he previously used condoms.

Losing your ability to orgasm is not really a documented side effect of the pill. It can be psychological that you are deep down still afraid of getting pregnant or of something else. The more likely cause is that the specific hormones in the pill together with your own hormones are causing this. The first step will normally be for your doctor to switch you to a different pill with different hormones. Your doctor can also test your testosterone and estrogen levels and make sure it is ok.

Best of luck. I hope you get your orgasm back soon!

I'm having the exact same problem. I've just finished my 2nt month. (I'm on the extended cycle, at the end of 3 months I get my period.) Even so, if I where to masturbate it would take me a very long time to climax. (I'm talking an hour or more.) Before I went on the pill I could finish in, longest, 20 minutes. My boyfriend hates this, he wants to get me off the pill because I don't climax once during sex unlike the 3 or 4 times I used to. I hate this about my birth control, I'm changing birth controls and hoping for the best. And yes, it is a symptom of birth control. While my sex drive is still good, same as before, I just can't get there anymore. So just know there's more women struggling with the same thing, your not alone girl! I wish you good luck and I hope you and your boyfriend find something that works. I wish you luck!
