Trouble breathing when laying down

User Profile
I am a 34 year old female. I have been having some issues lately with my throat. This may sound strange, but lately when I lay down at night to go to sleep I have these strange syptoms. My throat feels dry and tacky. It also feel like my broncial tube opens real wide and then starts to close. Then my heart starts to race. I'm not sure if this part is an anxiety thing or what but it happens every time. But, I have to get up. Then it almost feels like I'm having trouble breathing. I get myself all worked up. I have even gone to the ER, where they did an x-Ray of my throat and found nothing. It seems like if I calm myself down it gets better but returns almost every night now, lately. I have not been diagnosed with asthma, but almost seems like similar symptoms. Although, one time I used an inhaler that I was given by my doctor and it seemed to have made things worse. It's driving me crazy. Do you have any suggestions?
