Tourettes Syndrome symptoms ?

User Profile
Ever since the age of nine, I have been experiencing symptoms of Tourette Syndrome. Ever since, I've had several complex motor tics and vocal tics.

I'm almost 16, and these tic outbursts are getting worse, probably because I go through a ton of stress and anxiety which not only worsens the tics, but it also increases stress.

Some of my past tics include, but certainly not limited to: head jerking, eye-rolling, constant blinking, facial contortions, squeaking and humming noises.

My current tics include throat-clearing, sniffing, and !**@!, flexing and hyper flexing fingers and wrists.

However, during the years I have learned to hide and suppress some of my tics when in public, although it is quite difficult to do so.

I've always been scared and nervous to talk to a doctor about it. I am curious about the diagnosis of TS, and what the doctors will do. And will it really require a full on head-to-toe physical examination? And lastly, does it sound like I have TS?

Do not be anxious about going to a doctor. You will probably not need a head-to-toe physical examination. If during the interview some tics occur, the doctor will be able to diagnose you.

I cannot diagnose you here as I have not seen you. But you should keep a possibility of Tourette syndrome, but also consider anxiety as a contributing factor.
