Yes I have had my tongue peel before and my dentist didn't know what the dead skin was! I peeled it right off and it went away. It has happened again several times and I just peeled it off. It may be a problem with not brushing the tongue enough, having a tongue burned (my tongue peeled as a result of that before), or its just the body's way of getting rid of dead skin cells. I highly doubt it is serious at all, but it would be a good question to ask your dentist. If I find out anything else I will let you know.
