Hi,

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for this query, apologies if not.

Basically I had scar tissue on the left side of my upper lip. It came to be there after I got beaten up and it didnt heal fully. Basically it made one side of my lip larger than the other, however not by any huge amount. This was a few years ago. Today the scar tissue is still there however it has reduced in size as far as I can tell, by maybe half. However the size of my lip on this side has remained the same. To me it just appears as though there is soft fleshy tissue where the scar tissue was.

The problems are both psychological and physical to an extent. My upper lip is uneven because of it which I am self conscious of, but also the left side of my lip tends to rub against my tooth, causing some discomfort.

I'm not overly keen on surgery as there are no guarantee's of the success, however are there any lip shaping exercises that I could do to reduce the girth of the left side of my lip? Maybe to tone my lips.

Also what would surgery entail for such an issue?

Thanks in advance.

i too have the lump on my bottom lip, i was in an abusive relationship and now im left with this hideous scare on my lip. im constantly trying to hide it when i smile. people i'v known years before the lump ask me "what happened to your lip?" or say "your lips where your best quality".it upsets me every time i look in the mirror, look at pictures of myself (past and present),or try to smile. smiling should come easy and i'v always had a beautiful one. the only thing keeping me from doing what i love most since leaving the negative, abusive relationship behind is the visible depression of scare/lump on my lip.i just want to have my lips back i want to smile again. i really want the surgery and would like to know what kind of specialist i would need to go to as well as how much the procedure would cost so i could start saving money.

My 5 year old son just had surgery to remove scar tissue from his right upper lip. The doctor put him to sleep entirely, made a small cut directly next to his lump, cut out the scar tissue, pulled the flap of skin back in place, and stitched the cut with disolvable stitches, made a follow up appointment for three weeks later. The surgery site swelled up slightly for 24 hours, immediately after surgery the improvement was amazing. There is still going to be a small lump, but it will diminish over time and should not be nearly as noticable as before.

jjjj5, do you have any pictures before and after the surgery? I'm not sure yet whether I should get plastic surgery done and whether it's worthwhile for me.

I also have a lump in my right upper lip due to being punched and then stitched up in the hospital but I wasn't stitched up that well and there is a lump in my upper right lip and my face is now less symmetrical as a result. I can still hide the lump if I smile a certain way and I'm sure a lot of people don't notice it but I am self-conscious about it. I am particularly self-conscious when outdoors as the sun's light has the effect of making the lump more noticeable but if it's dark/night time the lump is harder to see and not really that noticeable.

I might be able to apply for compensation as well.

I have a bump on my lip too. When I had braces I fell in the dark and it cut my lip. It's been 2 years and I still have the mark. I would love for it to be removed. Please get into contact with me if your suffering from the same. Send me a private message and we can exchange messages.

Lump in upper lip
Hey guys,

I have a lump a small lump in my upper lip due to being punched by another and being stitched up in the emergency department of a hospital.

Is there any way to fix my lip so that my face appears more symmetrical and appears more pleasing to the eye?

I feel self-conscious about it especially when the sun's light reflects off the little bump/lump in my lip and I see it in a glass mirror.

Would it be worth getting plastic surgery for it?
How much would this cost?

Any ideas?

Regards,
Joseph_101

Lip scar tissue bump worse after surgery
I've had a small bump on my lip since i was a baby (scratched my lip and it scarred). As I got older, my lips stretched out and the bump was hardly noticeable. When I got my wisdom teeth out, the doctor said he could remove the bump too and even though I didn't mind it at that point, I thought having it completely gone would be pretty good. Now, it's 3-4times bigger than it ever was and I hate it! People think I have herpes or something. I can tell people stare at it while I'm talking. I want to remove it, but it'll cost $300 plus I don't have a car to get to the doctor. Damn, I guess if it ain't broken, don't fix it.
