Living with a bad habbit
I'M an american living in Greece for the last 17 years with my Greek wife.I've had a love-hate relationship with cigarettes my whole life.I have the willpower to quit but can't stay away.I started smoking at 12 and quit 8 years later at 20 years old.I quit for 6 years.I was involved in a church and wasn't around any smokers for that time. When I left that church I immediately started smoking again. For another 15 years.I was a heavy smoker both these periods,(30-35 cigarettes a day). Then another church involvement and I quit for 3 years.Again the same thing, when I stopped going,I started smoking again. That was 20 years ago,and since I've stopped several times.Sometimes for 1 or 2 months, other times foe 4 to 6 months.Greece is a country of smokers.I'd say at least half the population smokes,if not more. Most of my relatives and friends smoke, and I just don't have the willpower to not smoke when I'm around them.I like the habbit,so since this last time that I quit for 4 months,I tried to smoke 2 cig a day only.So far.I've been doing this for several months now,it seems to be working for me.I eat healthy,(lots of fruits and vegitables, chicken once or twice a week.beef once a month,no sweets ).My house is located in a pine forest which I'm told is good for the lungs,so I can only hope that these things may help me avoid a miserable old age suffering from lung disease or cancer.I'm not willing to stop seeing my friends and relatives ,just because I have no willpower to not smoke when I'm aruond them. They won't refrain from smoking when I'm around, and it's not considered polite to ask. This is my compromise...

I needed a good laugh today. Who would have thought that tobacco would be the best cure known to man.
