I just discovered a lump on the back of my head, left side, down by where the first comments said their's was. I am dizzy at times, especially when I touch or push on the bump, and I have headaches more than usual. Should this be something to be concerned about?

More Info: I also never hit my head back there recently, so I can't understand why it's there.

large lump on the back of head
I have had a cystic lump on the back of my head for the past ten years. I have seen three doctors for this now and all say the same - that its benign and if it doesn't bother me just to leave it alone. It has slowly been growing and is now about 2/3 the size of a table tennis ball. I'm sure it makes me feel dizzy and affects my vision from time to time - but all the docs told me its in a delicate place and best not to touch it. The last doctor told me it stems from an old trauma injury and I recall falling VERY hard and bumping my head in axactly the place where the lump is, about thirty years ago.

terminal
i have 3 lumps on the side and front of my head, they hurt to touch and doctor also told me it was vertigo, MRI results confirms that i have 3 tumors and i have 2 to less then 3 years. so for anyone out there that think its just a lump. get a second opinion, could save your life.

As I stated before getting treatment from a special chiropractor that specializes in the atlas and axis of the neck. I have had 3 treatments thus far and I am feeling better and better everyday. Headaches are lessing.

I have had a large hard lump on the back of my head for the last 5 years - it begins at the hairline or bottom part of the ear lobe and goes up to the top part of the ear. It is hard and when i touch it, it won't move - it feels as though it's attached to the skull/bone - unlike a cyst that is made of fatty tissue. I have tried to show it to 2 different doctors over the last few years, one was an oncologist who specializes in lumps and tumors - but both times, both of the doctors just couldn't feel it - they just brushed me off and said that it's just the shape of my skull - which is so stupid because it's not - It hurts sometimes when i push it and when i touch it i can feel it crackling like cartlidge or extended bone - it is not round - it's sort of an uneven shape. It does worry me but I don't know what else to do - since the doctors just think i'm imagining it - it's so annoying! I am wondering if having an ultrasound scan on that part of the scalp would show what is under the skin there? I had an MRI about 6 years ago because I was having dizziness, but it came back clear - thank god!!! so I am wondering what other scans or x-rays may show what it could be? Does anyone else have the same type of lump? or found out what it is? thanks for any advice and good luck to all of you guys

alexSa ... have you had an ultrasound done? So far it seems the consensus that everyone who's had an MRI done the results are clear.

it could be an angiolipoma?
I had a tender walnut size lump on the back of my head about 10 years ago = it was an angiolipoma. Getting a chiropractic neck adjustment usually provided good relief temporarily. I ended up having it removed (outpatient surgery) by a dermatiologist because it did get enlarged, tender and painful pretty often. However I have to give the most credit to the chiropractor who reassured me from the very start that it was probably not a "brain tumor" since it was happening in the skin layers OUTSIDE the skull. A lot of the pain was because the swelling area would simply pull on other related head muscles (they're all interconnected). My wonderful surgeon only gave me twilight so I was able to "see" the lipoma after he got it out, and it did look substantially like the photos I had previed online. It also lab tested to be NOT cancerous. Anyway, if your swelling comes & goes, it might be this = look up angiolipoma!

I havent been to the doctors because I have ben terrified to find out what it is.. Although I did hit my head in that same spot prior to it coming up. I wish it would just go away...

I have a similar thing. Two bumps appeared a few days ago on the left side of the back of my head. They started off sore and got more painful each day. The pain has also been making my left ear sensitive and my neck ache. They have gone down a bit in size since they appeared. Is it something I should be concerned about or let itself work out? Please help.

I have had a lump on the back of my head it started about a year ago. Normally it gets really big and then seems to pop like a pimple. I had gone to the doctor before and they said it could be a cyst. But recently it's stuck around even after it poped and it's causing pain. It is like squishy in some spots but hard in others.

Tumour
I just found out that my lump on the back of my head is a tumour and i have less than 7 months to live. Go to the doctors and demand an MRI scan, it would have saved my life if i had mentioned it earlier.
