Want to sleep without pills

I am a 24 yrs old female. I have been having problems sleeping for several yrs now. I have taken several "sleeping pills" over-the-counter and prescription. I don't want to continue to take pills to get a good nights sleep. An interesting thing I noticed, when I went home for the holidays; I noticed around 10pm I began to feel sleepy and went to bed and eventually fell asleep. I returned to my apt last night and was wide awake till arond 2am. I didn't feel tired but I wanted to fall asleep so badly that I wanted to cry. I don't know what the problem is or what I should do. Could someone please help..

Thank you for asking at Ehealth forum!

I read your question and I understand your concern.
If you are reluctant to sleeping pills then you have to observe sleep hygiene strictly in order to have sound and adequate sleep.
I hope it helps. Stay in touch with your healthcare provider for further guidance as our answers are just for education and counselling purposes and cannot be an alternative to actual visit to a doctor.
