Hey,

i've been having the exact same problem for about 7 months and i'ts driving me absolutely insane!! Many times the stuff I cough up is dark-colored thoughi know what you mean. I've been to different doctors and they havent helped. I think it could be a condintion called gerd, but I hope not. You would have to take like stomach acid reducers and things of that nature. I'm also looking for a way to solve this problem as well. Its very unattractive and has killed my singing voice. Any help would be amazing.

Hey guys,

know this sounds weird but I came across this chinese physician. His advice to me is to stop having chicken. (chicken causes flem)for a change I tried it for a week. Heres the results. The amount of sticky flem I had reduced. Instead the texture change to light viscus whitish flem. Its not as sticky as before and it not as stubbon to cought it out. At a matter of fact it is bearable and most of the time I do not need to cought it out. Just need to rumble my throat a little to break it loose. On the surface, the problem might have been solved. But theres still 2 things to look into. The urge to rumble our throat to ease the dis comfort and the the constant production of flem. Could there be some ingrowth in my throat or some throat sensertive issues. Please share you advice guys...

Sticky saliva
Quick Remedy:

Drink more water (5 pints a day) with freshly squeezed lemon juice if possible.

Also, more importantly reduce salt intake as much as possible - you should see a huge difference!

Good luck - it worked for me.

Sticky Throat Syndrome
My brother had a long term problem with sticky throat syndrome. By accident, I noticed that a white film was left behind when he boiled bottled water. Not knowing what this was, I went out and bought distilled water over the natural spring water that he was drinking. He began to drink the distilled water and after two weeks, his sticky throat syndrome cleared up. What was the difference between the two bottled waters? Mineral salts in the natural spring water was giving him a negative reaction. Doctors could not figure out his problem as well.

extremely thick sticky mucus in throat
I have this same thing. I have a constant build up of mucus in my throat. I have had two surgeries where they went in and cleaned it off. ENT said the crud was so thick their suction could not unstick it and they had to scrap it off. Within a month after surgery it is right back. ENTs (four of them) all have never seen this and they are all from Loma Linda hospital in CA. When I manage to cough up somthing it is very large and extremely sticky. The crud builds up to the point it doesn't allow my vocal cords to work and I lose my voice until it is scrapped or coughed out. Sometimes I feel like I are being chooked when it blocks my air passage. This has been going on for two years. HELP. It is getting worse and no one knows what it is or how to treat it.

Same pb
I unfortunately have the same thing and as far as I am aware it is a symptom of an allergic asthma.

A very thick sticky mucus get stuck in my throat, sometimes blocks the air passage completely, and get choked. It urges me to continuously cough and cough until I split it or some of it out, or move it in another position, down or back to the lungs (I literally feel it forming and roaring as a very sticky phlegm or a jelly that I can move around the throat. I suppose it forms from the allergic asthma I suffer from, but I better bear this sticky phlegm when is located inside the bronchi rather than when is in the throat. It forms when eating all mucus-forming foods such as diary products, eggs, wheat, pastries, meats, food with preservatives and additives, sometimes I feel that it is triggered from everything I eat (besides some greens), polen, dust and effort.

Since this condition worsened (almost 1 year now) my life and every day activities have been powerfully affected, my marriage, career, social life and everything. Ive started to hate the night time and all foods. No doctor could help me besides pomping in me corticosteroids and Ventolin (at least if this could help). I have also tried Echinaccea, Septilin, and some other naturist remedies, but there was no permanent relief from it, just a temporary ameliorative effect. I would appreciate if someone could help with it, I could see that we are so many people confronting with this condition. Thanks
