Chronic Epididymitis (Page 16)

April 21st, 2012
For Epididymitis, i recommend the following two homeopathic medicines:

1) Ferrum phosphoricum 200 C
2) Pulsitilla 30 C

Take 4 pills of these 3 times a day for 15 days. That should help you guys.

Also, just make sure to AVOID these things:

1)Lifting heavy loads should be avoided.

2)Do not do heavy exercise or even minor ones. Let the pain and swelling heal first.

Generally asked question is "Can we Masturbate?"
The answer is Yes, you can, but as long as it doesn't hurt you. Also, just once a week.

Hope this helps.

Epididymitis Treatment
1) Just make sure to give atleast one hour gap between you Allopathic medicines and Homeopathic medicines.

2) And, try to consume homeopathic medicines while you are empty stomach. Effect is better.

3) Drink plenty of water. Water helps in removing body toxins.

4) Avoid junk food as far as you can. You main objective should be to bring your body to wholesome health and mint conditions.

5) Avoid sexual contact during the pain and swelling.

6) Last, but most important, be patient. Homeopathic medicines take time, but heck, it's at least better than undergoing surgery. Just have faith on Homeopathy. People may say that its useless, but some people's body have more healing tendency when exposed to homeopathy than allopathy or even when exposed to both simultaneously. BE PATIENT AND HAVE FAITH IN HOMEOPATHY. Trust me, it helps a lot.

All -

As an update, after 10 years of suffering what I was told was chronic epididymitis by several docs, I sought a new opinion from a urologist who suspected a small hernia that he found only by taking some appropriate time with me. I was then sent to a hernia specialist that did the repair last week.

I am still recovering from the surgery but, in the end, I simply had a wrong diagnosis that I lived with, unnecessarily, for a decade.

Hopefully the recovery is quick.

Please update w/ your condition, this is an avenue that I've been trying to go down w/ my urologist/gm/pain doc, and they all seem to say there's no hernia. I remember moving heavy furniture, heavier than I should have moved, before all this. Still, they say there's no hernia, but really - I think there may be a small chance. I'm just hoping that it's something as simple as that, at least explainable, curable. Please, gimme an update bro

It's been 4 months since the hernia repair and I'm all good. 100%. Much more comfortable in boxers and boxer briefs. Sex life has never been better.

It's frustrating to think I suffered for a decade with referred pain and pressure because of a wrong diagnosis. I took NSAIDs like candy for years, which likely did a number on my stomach. I can't count the number of ice packs I unnecessarily stuck down my pants. Or how much time I spent worried and researching, looking for help. The doc that mis-diagnosed me is lucky I'm not the suing type.

But yeah - sure glad I found a doc that literally got "hands on" and figured this out for me. Good luck.

I've been suffering from epididymitis for 7 months now. Been on 4 different antibiotics...Bactrim DS 10days, Doxycycline 30days, Cipro 22days, Levaquin 30days. None has helped. Even after all this i still feel like might have an infection. I have no way to know for sure. levaquin and cipro are in the same drug family. Obviously resistant to them. Im wondering why my urologist didnt put me on Ceftriaxone?? pretty sure it is suppose to be given with Doxy. But heres what i want to know, Am i crazy for thinking i still have an infection? I have swelling of my right testicle. And it now hangs much lower than what it use to.

Possible treatment
Hi,

I thought I would post as i've had many of the problems others have had here. However, after trying several antibiotics, it has just come back time and again over about a 6 month period. But at the minute i'm taking 30c of Pulsatilla 4 times a day (2 in the morning, 1 for the other 3 doses) and i've had no symptoms whilst i've been on it. I haven't been off it yet to see if it might have cured me, but for now there's hope. Hope this helps someone who is also suffering. My symptoms were initial infection of some sort I think I picked up on holiday, took some antibiotics which stopped the infection but left me with epididymitis. I was getting a painful right testicle, with heat and swelling as well as ache in my groin area, doctors have so far found nothing to suggest a cause. Be warned not to take too much pulsatilla though as it's toxic in high doses. Let me know if someone else has success, I will update in a few weeks once i'm off it to confirm it it's gone away or not. Good luck

So, I've been thru a lot in these last few months and I'm still in pain.

I did several different drugs, antidepressents didnt seem to help, in fact it made me very emotional and I was weeping all the time. I've been on 2400 mg of Gabapentin a day for like 5 months now. The only thing that helps is Norco, not because it takes away the pain, but because it makes me not care about it so much. I even went and got bilateral nerve block injections to the femoral nerves on either side, to no avail. No results. Acupuncture for months. Thousands of dollars thrown at this monster, and here I am one year later still suffering.

While yes, I do feel that my pain is not as consistently severe as it used to be, i dont know that things I've been doing have helped. More like I'm learning what exacerbates it, and avoiding it. Alcohol, which is a tough one since I love beer. Sex, also excruciatingly tough, especially in these wonderful days of free smut all over the internet. I can ejaculate once every two days, and on that day I'm nearly incapacitated w/ pain. The next day I can walk, and generally can function tho in some degree of pain. I've tried celibacy and it just makes matters worse, as it's blue-balls on top of angry balls. Sorry Jason, no beer for you tho.

So I'm trying, God knows I'm trying. I've even turned to God to help me, anything, whatever.. I've learned my lesson. Just please, give me my life back I beg. Please help someone to find something, help me discover something. Im all out of things to try outside of just cutting the damn things off for once and for all, so help me.

Fk, this is depressing

Hi Jason,

I've recently seen the problem go away after having it for 6 months. I took ofloaxcin and whilst I didn't feel much better whilst on the but since coming off them I've not had the symptoms now for 3 weeks. I've also started taking ginseng, saw palmetto and a few other herbs. I hope this might be of some help to you.

Lets fight this ugly pain together
Hi all,
hope you guys are fighting this chronic pain with utmost spirit. To my life, this pain in my scrotal has ruined my life. I was a very happy kind of person who loved to go out and enjoyed company of my friends but one day i woke up around two months ago with pain in my testicles. I did not know how and why. I was running daily around 5 kms and it all stopped with this pain.

First week was getting used to this pain, i was so confused to go out and ask someone about the pain in my testicles and so i send my assistant for pain killers. It didn't help.

2nd week
Finally one of my friend suggested me to visit a urologist. So i went there and after seeing my balls for sometime he said all is okay. He give me Phologin(an anti-inflammatory medicine), though the pain decreased but it came back heavily.

3rd week.
I did not go to anyone as i had my tooth extraction, the only three days i didn't have any pain was due to extraction was done on General Anesthesia. Since the effect got away the pain again came bk.

4th week
I started taking hot baths and continued with the Phologin medicine off and on but the pain was still there.

5th week
The pain was still there & hence i went to my father who came to know why i was always sleeping, he decided to take me to a general surgeon. The surgeon was good and he quickly held a nerve on my right testicle and said it was a cyst. Finally i thought i can just get it removed so i went for an Ultra sound.
The Ultra sound guy took merely 20 mins to scan my balls and to my luck nothing was found. He did the nerve test also and said there was nothing. So i went back to the General Surgeon to show him my reports and he said he must have not done the scan properly.
I was given Novidat 500 mg and another anti inflammatory medicine. I took that medicine for a week and to my misery the dr was not available that day. That day after coming back home, and due to long walks in the hospital finding the general surgeon and i was wearing a boxer too with a broken heart and nothing to my success the pain became unbearable for me and i was actually screaming.
So i went back to my urologist whom i had shown before and told him that the pain is way too much.

Let me tell you i don't have any swelling or any red part on my balls, they just look same they looked before. This time i told him that the pain is not going plz help me out. Than again he checked my testicles and tried to identify the pain. The pain was in upper side of right testicle. He said you have epididymis infection. So he gave me cipro for a month daily 250 mg and anti inflammatory for two weeks.

8th week
My 8th week has started today and i have been taking cipro and anti inflammatory medicine religiously. The pain is still there but it has reduced but i know the day i leave the medicine it would jump back.

My suggestions

I have started taking hot baths twice a day.
I only wear briefs now.
I have stopped coffee and tea.
I just wear easy clothes.
I still smoke and think that i have to decrease it.
I have even started Cran Max as one of my friend told me who had this pain that its the best way to get the dirt out. Cranberry Juice naturally would be my preference but i could not find so i started it. Its the second day i have started it and feel that it effects the most when the stomach is empty.

I am not here to cry, because crying won't help. I have a work which make me going out & meeting ppl is the routine of the day. My level of efficiency has decreased and only 30 percent of mine is working.

I have started praying now too and pray always to Allah Allmighty to give me strength to fight this pain. This is a mind game too, so ppl come here and try to give suggestions. I know i will overcome this pain so ppl lets share out ideas. Many ppl have given excellent ideas and cures, so thank all.

So i try to focus on my daily routine, what you did and why the pain started and which time it got the least.

I will try to visit a pain specialist because i know that he would be the one who can tell me the best, i hope he turns out to be good one.

My most important exams are in the start of next yr. I haven't started yet because all day i think of this pain.

I believe you only live once and such pains are the test given by God to check his creations.
PPL we have to fight this and the only way is to get your self evaluated by your self.
I will try herbal medicines also after talking to my DR.
You all know 95 percent of them suck big time, you wait for days to meet them and they smile after only giving 5 mins and say everything is okay, actually its not. So don't care about them.

I hope there is a medicine soon i can get it and it can change my pain into pleasure.
I have highlighted the things which helped me. Please give a look any one if you are having such pain.

Thankyou admin for this forum, it really relieves me that i am not the only one fighting but i will keep on fighting and i would not stop so as you all.

Alright guys, I've been lurking this forum and the internet for 1 month now, and I've had this for a little over 6 months. Let me share my story:

I woke up with the pain one day and was very confused. I am 21, and I haven't had sex in around 9 months or so, but I was a heavy weed smoker and masturbated at least once a day, those two were my vice. I coped with it for a week then I got utterly scared, and I went to the doctors.

I got there and he really only went on what I had to say after doing some research. I told him my symptoms were what I thought was epididymitis. He agreed, but I'm pretty sure it was only because I brought it up. Anyways, when I came back a week later, he had my ultrasound results and I was diagnosed with mild epididymitis. No STD's either. He prescriped me 1 week, 750mg of novo-levofloxacin. I took it and it had no effect. During this week I noticed that walking around made it worse, so this is when I stopped working (at a furniture warehouse) and also came to the conclusion that smoking cannabis made it a lot worse for the entire day, swelling and pain-wise.

After I was done that dose of anti-biotics, I was still worried beyond recognition. This is where the depression started kicking in. I had lost my two favourite things to do and the internet only made things worse as reading all these chronic stories was bringing misery to this God forsaken pain. I went to the ER, as I also contracted some throat infection, and was worried it was related to my epididymitis. I got another urine test, a blood test and another ultrasound. They found a small cyst, 4mm in size I think. They said it wasn't a big problem so I went with it. Along with this they found blood in my urine, and prescribed me with 2 weeks of cipro, 500mg. This again went by and had almost no effect on me. The swelling did subside, but the pain was still very much there. They also sent me to a urologist but he did diddly squat. I went in, he grabbed my nut in a very awkward manner, made it hurt for the rest of the day and in the end he just said "drink lots of water, come back in two weeks"...right there that made me lose all faith in doctors. Another visit to my family doctor and he said to switch to briefs and wear a jock-strap, that definitely helps a lot so give it a try! Also he said since I ad no STDs, it was most likely from lifting something heavy and straining myself down there...makes sense because I do a lot of that at my work.

But there is good news! Sorry for the wall of text but I did have some relief, all due to natural herbs and remedies!

I had stopped smoking weed the entire time btw, except for once to test what the outcome would be. That night I rode a very shaky, bumpy bus and ran for another, and maybe it was the combination of the two, but the pain increased, along with muscle spasms in my left testicle/epididymis as I noticed the first time I encountered the relation. I have not smoked since and will not for the rest of my life if it means it will keep this condition away. Another thing to note is I have been masturbating every so often to see if it's an option. It isn't. I've tried with 1, 2, 3 week breaks during this time and it brought the pain back...it's very hard to sit at home and watch TV without being tempted to do this. I cannot even live my active lifestyle anymore, and this is such a burden on my life that I want it out of my system ASAP Sad

On a brighter note though, I went to [removed by admin] and he gave me some prayers to do, and some herbs that did MUCH more than the anti-biotics ever did...him along with this forum and the internet have given me the best form of relief. I have slowly been feeling a recovery due to the ailments I am taking and the pain has subsided to maybe a 1 or 2, it's still there but decreased a lot. It has only come back today due to heavy walking, but I don't think it was completely that, I had a peppermint mocha latte because I wanted to try it, so that may have been a culprit...bringing my pain up to a 3-4.I will list everything I have a few things I'd like to suggest to you guys suffering from this:

-Be faithful. Don't get depressed about this taking over your life. I went through that and getting over that mental state is your #1 key to fighting this. Don't let it take over your entire being, fight it with all of your force!

-Be your own doctor. By all means go to your family doctor and a urologist, take their anti-biotics for maybe 2-3 rounds if you really wish, but don't try every single one available. I have read up enough on this to safely say the anti-biotics aren't doing much! They might clear the initial infection, or parts of it, but we are still suffering weeks, months or years later!

-I don't know if it's with everyone, but don't smoke weed! There is definitely a relation between the two, be it the increased blood flow, or maybe even something undiscovered by science as both epididymitis and cannabis have very little research into them!

-Caffeine is a big no-no as well. I was feeling very good up until today, when I had a mocha latte, increasing my pain and making me browse this site again.

Now for the herbs and products that have relieved my symptoms:

-For the swelling and pain, my miracle worker is bois d'arc, or osage orange. My mom had this wonderful tree bark for another family member but it worked wonders for me. [removed by admin] also told me to drink it. Guys, I'm not joking, it helped much more than ANY NSAID, or anything for that matter. Get it in bark form and boil it, only drinking the tea from it. drink 3 cups a day, no more than that or your blood stream cannot absorb it properly!

-Cat's claw. I have it in pill form but it is also in tea form. Mine is mixed with Dragon's Blood (it's a resin from a tree in the rainforest, not actual dragon's blood). This is to help repair the cells that were damaged, said [removed by admin]. When I started taking this and cranberry juice I noticed the pain reducing over some days after. My pills are 2, twice a day in the morning and at night. I bought this at [removed by admin]'s in-office store, so maybe try online or your [removed by admin]/herbalist/health store

-Cranberry juice. I was drinking 3 cups a day and this is just always good to flush out toxins, along with plenty of water.

-Olive leaf extract. Again with this I started noticing less pain, and I'm in the process of finishing this and the Cat's Claw/Dragon's Blood pills, going for the whole bottle...let's see if they work! Olive leaf extract I learned of from this site, so thanks. 3-4 pills a day.

-Apple cider vinegar. I have been drinking 2 cups of this a day. 3 tablespoons or more depending on what you can handle, as the taste is awful, and it upsets your stomach briefly. Dilute with water or fruit juice and try to stomach it! Many health benefits to this. Try your local health store. Go for organic and "Bragg" brand.

-Today I bought saw palmetto just and will start testing that out. 3-4 pills a day. Again, I cannot stress enough that you have to be your own doctor and find what's best for your specific condition. I'm almost positive there are different forms of this that aren't discovered due to very little research on this condition.

I will update you guys in the future if my symptoms get better or worse. And again, sorry for the wall of text but I really want to spread as much info as I can. Two of the things I mentioned are not anywhere on this site and the bois d'arc tea has really done wonders for me! Stay strong, have faith and may God be with you all in our hopefully soon ending quest for the cure for epididymitis!!!

I put up with this for year & tried all of the previous referenced remedies. Antibiotics, Herbs, homeopathic, apple cider, blah, blah blah.

No results. I was looking for it to be over, not managed.

I had the microscopic testicle denervation surgery two months ago. I can't believe it worked. I did not realize that I hadn't walked normally in a year.

For those unfamiliar - they take down the nerve in the spermadic cord. The incision in just to the right or left of the penis. The testicle remains - in some cases the process can kill the testicle. but this is infrequent. Pleased to report my testicle survived.

They say its a 2-5 day recovery, but that is BS. You will be out of commission for a week and moving a little slow for a couple of weeks.

It's a surgical option that is better than removing the testicle or an epididymectomy, in my opinion. My health insurance covered it. The total was $39,000!!! For a 2 hour surgery. I went in at 11:00 and went home at 5:00.
My insurance deductible is $7,000 and I happily paid it to have my life back.

I just realized the other day, walking through Target, I had my normal gait back. It felt great.

AT LAST!! I MAY HAVE AN ANSWER!!

A couple weeks ago, i went to a urologist in Los Angeles who offers the microsurgical denervation of the spermatic cord surgery. Before he would consider me a candidate tho, he wanted to take the scientific approach to this problem. Everyone else had thrown all the drugs they could at this thing, and nothing worked. Read my prior posts in this thread, ive tried EVERYTHING. There's even more I've tried that I havent posted. Not only have I been suffering testicular pain for 2 years, I've had decades of prostate pain and issues that nobody has ever been able to explain.

So, he took a scientific approach and for the first time someone demanded a sperm sample to be tested. There was enough sperm, so he didnt suspect blockage. There werent a lot of blood cells, so he didnt think infection. He sent the sperm to a lab to test for culture, to see if anything would grow. I went home and thought of my next move. The surgery is $7,000 and I have this problem on both sides. My insurance will not cover it. I dont care, I cannot live with this pain and if 14K will give me my life back, i'll do it.

That was until he called me a little while ago - with an answer. There was yeast growing in my sperm. I have a yeast infection, I've likely had a yeast infection for 20 years.

Back when this all started, before the days of the internet, I hit the books and suggested yeast infection to the urologist. He waved it off. Every urologist and doctor I've seen to this point, I've presented it as an option and theyve all waved it off. It's not possible, very unlikely, waste of time they'd say.

Here I am - 20 years later and my sperm sample shows that I have a yeast infection. Please, if you have this problem DEMAND that your urologist do a sperm sample test, for everything. It may be Candidiasis

Hello friends...Much to say BUT after reading the 16 previous pages for hours and hours I must ask ONE Important question:

First - same story as most of you - pain around epi 2+ years ago, lots of antibiotic - problem only worsened...majorly aching right ball thirty days ago...debilitating pain - another ocurse of AB's....

One important question for others who have epi. I have had several docs examine my epid. Never sensitive to the touch - one young doc noted that if I did have epididymitis I would have screamed when he TOUCHED mine....never any pain...

Yet, my right ball can ache kind of like the tail end of getting kicked in the balls - NOT that 'I am going to die of pain' that occurs in the moment but more like the after effects....

AND ultrasound CONFIRMED RIGHT EPI is very inflamed BUT Is it the source of my aching right testicle....?

well last nite I went searching for my right epid. - IS IT REALLY TO BLAME even if it didn't hurt when examined.....? I'll be honest I am a little nervous around the veins and all that - I have no issue 'playing with my balls' so to speak but the idea of the epi..has always freaked me out a bit...

well I found my right epi and clear it is inflamed so I pressed on and no real pain..I pressed a little harder and felt a zapping pain so then I squeezed my epi - (the swollen one) and I felt like I had been kicked harder than i ever have in the ball ....tried again this morning in the shower and felt like I was going to throw up and pass out......not nearly as sensitive tonight but in just squeezing lightly I get the pain back and I feel achy again......

Question: Is that how your Epididymis pain feel? When I squeezed the inflamed epi I thought I was going to pass out, throw up and die of pain all at the same time...like I had been kicked in the one ball
I now know and I never want to know that pain again...

So why did I do this? well I wanted to make sure the epi was the cause..it def is the cause of my pain...I have LOTS of god ideas on how to treat this - I will overcome this BUT I want you to all make sure you know where the pain is coming from...

epididymis is what all docs say if they don't know for sure. If doctors were stand up comedians they would have a dozen punchlines involving the misdiagnosed epi....I have heard of so so many false diagnoses....

SO PLEASE DO A THOROUGH FEEL AROUND: find the source. if your epi does not shriek when you touch OR squeeze then you likely have another issue (radiating pain, nerve damage, hernia, trigger points in pelvic floor, prostate issues, chronic bladder infection, other infections NOT detectable by urine culture or urethral swab....etc etc)

I DO NOT WANT ANYONE TO THINK that their testicle pain is less important if the epi is not involved...WE MUST ALL STICK TOGETHER ...however do you KNOW for certain you have an epi issue?

moreover...who says we have to live with chronic inflammation? why not treat the underlying issue and rid ourselves of this horrific pain ( I mean suicidally depressing and physically debilitating pain) in .....our .....balls......?

I will not live with this pain and I will live a long life.....

Can you confirm similar source of pain?

thanks!!!

I have this & also tried all the drugs. Id like to have them removed but docs tell me "phantom pain" is a possibility in up to 50% of cases after! Im of the mind now tho at age 55 that 50% chance is good odds & Id only be back where I am now if its the case! They still seem reluctant tho? Im in UK - are they just trying to save money? Surely a castration op is fairly cheap to carry out compared to endless visits to docs & dozens of drugs?

Yes, it does convert to formaldehyde in acid urine only, so it won't touch the epididymis or prostate.
