Chronic Epididymitis (Page 2)

Urologist
I've seen a urologist and he tested everything, urine, prostate, ultrasound. He suspects an infection. He said the prostate felt infected. He said prolonged pain is rare, but after reading boards like these it seems more common than thouhgt.

The post from Cribbs in 2004 made sense, that nerve damage could occur causing pain. Anybody had any luck with trying what he talk about in the US?

Another Thing
There have been over 10,000 views of this topic. Other topics aren't even close to that. Why aren't researchers addressing this? I'd never heard of it until it happened.

research this
Pudendal Nerve Entrapment or Interstitial Cystitis. I have had a problem for about 3-4 months. Have taken Cipro for 8 weeks and now taking Doxycycline for 6 weeks. Nothing is really working, but Google this things above. I've read a lot of people who have had prostate and genital problems been misdiagnosed. Ever wonder why medicine doesn't work? Talk to your doctor about these two items. I hope this helps you all. This is a problem many are experiencing, just by reading stuff on the net.

Can't take it
Had it for almost two weeks. Taking Levaquin for 5 days. Pain subsided some. No change in swelling. Pain in pelvic/thigh region today, same side. Miserably depressed. The only thing I look forward to is going to sleep and I have to take sleeping pills to help with that.

Don't understand why doctors seem to know so little about it when antibiotics don't help. Why does no one care?! That is unacceptable. The medical community needs to address this now!

needhelp2009 you should buy that book at that website that the Stanford University Doctors are offering. I think is a little more than $30 dollars. I'm sure it will give you ideas on how to streach that area or different techniques to relaxed that area. Everyone else I think should check it out too. thanks.

I watched the videos on their website. Sounded promising but complex. I'm hoping something else works out before feeling like I need to do that.

what has worked for me... so far
Gentlemen, I have been putting up with the discomfort for about a year and a half. I did the usual run of antibiotics and have spent many hours researching the causes and potential cures as well as seeing several doctors regarding this. Before electing expensive surgery here is what I chose to try thanks to info gathered here and other places on the net. So far, pain and discomfort and redness and swelling all but gone. Here is what I have done and what is working for me thus far. 1.) I Quit the booze entirely 2.) Quit caffeine almost entirely (switched to matte). 3.) daily hot soaks (hot) interspersed with letting your guys cool down in a bucket of ice cold water for about 2 - 3 minutes. I do 2 to 3 cycles of this. 4.) Briefs instead of boxers to hold close in and prevent them from getting knocked about 5.) Chinese herb 3x per day.

So far, after only two weeks, my pain has dropped from a about a 4 on a 10 scale to a barely noticeable 1/2.

I am confident it will continue to heal and I currently feel like I got my mojo back though I am going to refrain from sex for at least a month after pain is completely gone just to protect the healing process. Good luck guys.

Has anyone gotten in touch with this guy about the nerve blocking/freezing. cribbs1977

I'm 4 months in with minimal pain, but very bad abdominal swelling. Any thoughts. I don't smoke, or drink, and am generally active, but this thing is holding me down and giving me swelling and lots of discomfort, constantly.

Chronic epididymitis
I suffered for many years and was convinced that i had some sort of internal fungus in my genital area. I took perscribed anti-inflam meds, but didn't seem to penetrate the area long and strong enough...but did kinda work at first. After doing much research (praying) i stumbled upon a medication for long term use to kill off toenail fungus...you got it Lamisil Ãspam® (terbinafine hydrochloride) tablets. Yeah I know expensive as hell, but after a couple of weeks...I FELT GREAT!!! I really worked after 5 years of on and off discomfort. I may not be a doctor, but this is my contribution to the medical field. ENJOY my brothers.

chronic epididymitis - cure?
Majic7508 and others,

Let me go back and start at how it started. About 1988 when I younger and dating, I unfortunately was exposed to Chlamydia and did not realize what was going on for months. I did go to a doctor and of course they immediately treated me for a STD. (remember it was the 80âspams). This nagging discomfort was a mystery to my doctor, infectious disease specialist, Jesus, etc. Catch my drift. Here let me share a recent quote I NOW find as the beginning of my woes. âspamIf left untreated, it is possible for Chlamydia in men to spread to the testicles causing epididymitis, which in rare cases can cause sterility if not treated within 6 to 8 weeks. Chlamydia causes more than 250,000 cases of epididymitis in the U.S. each year. Chlamydia is also a potential cause of prostatitis in men, although the exact relevance in prostatitis is difficult to ascertain due to possible contamination from urethritis.

At that point I was very frustrated that the medical people were clueless and quite honestly, not really interested. I was prescribed every NEW antibiotic fresh off the assembly line. (zithromax, flagyl, cipro, Doxycycline âspam¦etc). I was also prescribed various anti-inflammatory meds. Some worked (I think) some didnâspamt. But HOPE will keep you searching for the cure, so I was game for any and everything. I even received weekly prostate massages by my urologist. I just wanted to stop looking and sounding like a pain-in-the âspamass patient complaining about my gonads! This went on for approx 5+ years. However like I mentioned earlier I was convinced that I had some sort of internal fungal infection. Can you imagine the looks I got when I mentioned that assessment? However a few weeks after was exposed and trested for the infection, I noticed other changes in my body, muscle spasms, sweating, unpleasant odors between my legs (especially in the warmer months), white tongue, constipation and finally toenail fungus years later. Now this may have not had anything to do with what was going on below, but as you all knowâspam¦Hope keeps you searching for the cure to end the MADNESS and humiliation. Now I mentioned that I was convinced about the fungus, and with good reason. It seemed that during my time being a human medicine cabinet I noticed that the meds (excuse me for not knowing the names right now) prescribed to me for the muscle spasms seem to work. The lower dosages worked but briefly, however once I convinced my doctor to up the dosage (500mg and up) things kind of worked out for a while. I was taking these meds like candy! By now like most of you I had become my BEST OWN DOCTOR in search of a cure. One day while I was waiting in a doctorâspams office for something else, I started reading a pamphlet for a new med called Lamisil for fungus infections in toenails. What really caught my attention was that this med would have to be taken for 3 to 6 months. The ingredients looked similar to some of the other meds I crossed paths with, so I figured what the heck, why not. At least it had the dosage longevity I figured was needed to blast this thing out the SAC! I have to be real honest with you, once I was approved to take the med (ins co can be a real hassle prescribing Lamisil) after a few weeks or soâspam¦It was working. I completed the meds 3 months worth, but it absolutely cured me and ALL the symptoms I was experiencing were gone.

It may have been luck, or unrelated to what I was going throughâspam¦but I was cured. I never shared this story since that time till now. Most of these postings are bringing back bad memories for me remembering the frustration I went through. Hopefully this will help those suffering with this disorder and start a movement that the medical wizards can start with to finding a cure.

It was more CONSTANT discomfort with occasional pain. I was getting the weekly prostate massage which helped alleviate any pain experienced. Let me add that when there was pain, there also was a change in my ability to have normal bowel movements. It seemed as if the pain was present when my prostate was "enlarged" and the massage was neccessary. Hot bathe soaks i found to be helpful when possible...Health club Hot tubs.

chronic epididymitis
Thanks dsharp,

My symptoms are mostly in the right epididymus, back of testicle, vas referens and tenderness on the right side of the scrotum that I feel is coming from the tender organs inside that I already mentioned. At times I do feel the pain with a pict or sensation getting closer to my anus but for sure in the genital area. I'm 33 years and the doctor says that my prostate is ok and I do have regular bowel movements. I wish this could go away. I even gotten nerve blocks and have tried herbal medicine and homeopathy as well but most importantly I pray a lot to God. Did you have pain in your genitals or epididymus, with discomfort in your scrotum?
