Chronic Epididymitis (Page 8)

July 21st, 2010
Yep, I am able to resume sexual activity now after about a month off and taking it easy along with adhering to the points I mentioned. Laying off of sex for a month as well as major physical activity (washing a car, weed-eating, washing my siding of my house, etc.) also probably helped.

Don't get me wrong, there is not a day that goes by that I expect for some reason to get this back and I start getting hypersensitive to the way I feel. This condition REALLY messes with my mind. I still get a sensation in my leg every now and then (one of my symptoms) but I have had it scanned and checked out in the past so I think it is my mind just playing with me.

If you have any questions, don't hesistate to keep asking. I didn't really have someone to go to when I had this and I remember what it was like - all I felt like I really had was Google to look things up and it was hard to find information from people who really had this crappy condition!

Have any of you have trying to apply any type of creams in that area to reduce the inflammation in the glands or veins, loosen the nerves there etc. the ideal thing would be to find something that could get our organs inside there to be like they were before this all started. I know our bodies our always trying to heal themselves. That's why I believe this area can get heal too amen.

Personally no.

You seem to keep looking for more ideas, have you tried the exercise regeime and have you tried the sleeping with your pelvic region and legs raised yet? thats what has worked for me and continues to do so.

I also sleep with a pillow under my knee as well. So it appears we also had that in common along with the pelvic exercises. Also, while you are healing I would abstain from caffein and strong spices as well. The good thing is between this forum and the other one I provided, you have alot more information to go on which is pretty good. So I highly recommend looking into everything and ruling nothing out.

As far as my update, it has been about 7 weeks and I am still symptom free. I stopped taking probiotics and selenium after a month and now I am excerising the same as before this happened and resumed sexual activity. Just to be safe though, I am going to go get a second opinion from a urologist to make sure no damage was done during the inflammation process. I don't hurt anymore as I mentioned, but I want to make sure nothing else developed as an aftermath of the whole sickness / healing process.

Good for you - This forum was the best I found and I wish more people with our disease could read it.

I spoke to soon 23rd a nightmare day and lots of bed rest but by the morning fully cured.

Had a ground coffe in the morning and a curry the night before - both best to be avoided!. Tingling started from nowhere evening of 22nd and 23rd was bad.

I wrote to the urologist to understand how you can go from 0 to such pain - awaiting response.

Morning of 26th now and 24th until now fine.

Like you Mason taking each day as it comes.

That's definitely a good thing to note Angelal! I also noticed during my original 6 month ordeal (before I started my self med process) that when I had alot of caffein, alcohol (i.e. go out to a bar), or have something VERY spicy that it would magnify the aching / pain I was enduring. So that definitely sounds like we are dealing with the same thing.

Update: This is now my sixth (or seventh - can't remember) week since my self med treatment and I am still not incurring any pain in my testicles, however, I notice that my inner thigh still feels like I have a slightly pulled muscle which I know is not the case. I am still able to run, play outdoor activities, etc. (using a support cup) and if I spend time doing my normal stretches, it does seems to go away. My epididimydis still feels slightly imflammed when I check myself out. I guessing it takes a long time for it to return to normal after such a major trauma.

Hi guys,
I hope you guys had a great weekend in my case it was a very tough weekend even though I'm doing the pelvic exercises or stretching, the pain in my epididymus glands has been very strong. my pain feels like if the glands were being squeezed or pinched (squeezing pain). Do you guys feel it that way? I was very down and sad this weekend because I really want to feel better. Do you think the glands are inflammed or there's not enough circulation maybe cysts?

Have you been doing anything strenuous such as lifting weights, running, working outside, etc.?

Also you may be right, it may be because it is not getting enough circulation. I would consdier taking warm baths daily. Also sleeping with a pillow under your legs at night may help as well (increases blood flow to that area I am assuming).

Most importantly, have you been to a urologist? If so, what has the doctor told you?

I have been to my Urulogist and he says that there's no infection anymore just sensitive nerves from the original infection. Maybe some inflammation in the glands inside but I cannot really tell. To me testicles look normal.

Quick question to both of you do you suffer from hot testicles?

I have to sleep with nothing on to try and keep them cool and the sweating in the day just makes life so uncomfortable and awkward. Do you know if this is part of the illness?

I only find bed rest with pelvis raised and legs up as a pure cure on a bad day I will sleep 3 times - I just find the pain exhausting.

Mixed day but pain no more than 3 - more hassle than pain.

Hopefully clear tomorrow.

My experience right now is a bit different - no pain, no hot sensation / sweat, just some inflammation that you would think would have completely settled down now after 6 weeks of not feeling any pain / soreness. When I examine my testicles I can actually feel the tubes still a little inflamed. Also as mentioned my inner thigh feels like I have a slight pulled muscle at times.
I have a second opinion coming up in a couple of days with another urologist and I hope to get some answers on these two things.

Thanks Mason - are the pulled muscles due to spreading of the legs to make yourself more comfortable? I sometimes experience this.

I also experience inflamed tubes on occasions - I have asked my urologist what is changing them from normal to inflamed and why it is not consistent.

Will be interested in the urologists views - best of luck

Not sure what is causing my thigh to experience discomfort. I am not really sure what is going on or if it is even related to the epididimydis. I plan to get this second opinion to see what is going on in these two areas though.

Once I visit with the urologist I will try and relay any additional information that I get.

Update: It has been about 7 weeks since my self treatment and things are pretty much the same which is pretty good I guess. I still have 2 lingering issues both of which don't seem to be anything big, just that they can be annoying if you look at things from a glass "half empty" perspective.

I spoke with one of the best rated urologists in the city where I live. My advice for those who seek a urologist - spend the time to find a good one (rated highly) from somewhere like the internet or from someone you know. It makes all the difference. That's what I did (from the internet). Then I spoke to my PCP and both he and my original urologist sent all of my scans / results to the new urologist where I got my second opinion. She spent alot of time with me, walking me through what she was seeing when she examined me as well as my other scans and it here's what she told me. She said that I had no major issues that required surgery and that I looked pretty healthy to here and just fine. She said I was a little bit in a tough spot though for I didn't need surgery for some of the symptoms I was still feeling and it could be one or more of the following:

They could be:

- Some sort of arthritis of the testicle (she got the feeling this is prob not it after she examined me but will know for sure with the right ultrasound procedure)
- For my leg issue. A very small hernia (probable but will know for sure with the right ultrasound procedure)
- For my inflammation around my testicle - it was most likely a Varicocele. https://health.google.com/health/ref/Varic ocele (will be discovered but will know for sure with the right ultrasound procedure).

She said that my first ultrasound ordered by my first urologist was to really discover if I have any masses, etc. The one I will be doing in a couple of months is more geared to finding if I have a varicocele so I will have to perform certain movements etc. while they perform it. However even if they find it is a varicocele she said that the inflammation could stop but there is a chance that there may be nerve damage or something so it might always feel like it may feel a little inflammed. But they won't really know the whole story until they start the scan. If you are wondering why I scheduled it so far out it's because I will be out of the country for a few weeks and have alot going on - so I asked for it then. As far as the hernia, it's what she thinks for things in my leg didn't look symmetrical but she will know more with the upcoming visit in Oct. She said we may not even repair it if it is too small and doesn't really hurt me because surgery may do more harm than good here in this case.

Conclusion: I decided to get a second opinion since I healed up to the point where I still felt slight inflammation around my left testicle and I felt like I had a slightly pulled muscle (which I knew was not the case). Both don't hinder me from normal activities now but I needed to know there wasn;t anything else going on for peace of mind. In going to the urologist for a 2nd opinion, I found what is causing me to feel the way I do and I am definitely glad I went. I have another ultrasound geared towards finding hard to see / feel varicoceles which will give us more info here in the near future.

I hooe this helps!

Thanks for the information.

A Varicocele sounds like it could be what both of us have. I will talk to the urologist in late August.

Sorry to hear about the possible hernia.

Now added Sellinium for a month and half way through with the pumpkin seed oil and pro biotics.

Pain free again for a little while but waiting and seeing what happens.

keep in touch with progress as will I.

This gives a pretty good overview of what a Varicocele is - it pretty much follows along with what this secind urologist told me:
