blood and mucous in stool
Get another opinion. Ask for a Hemoccult test. It checks for blood that cannot always be seen - hence it is called "occult blood". This test should be done on 3 different days; stool is applied to a small card and can be mailed into a reference lab or a hospital lab. It is a good thing to have this done regularly. Especially if you have a history of other intestinal problems.

17 with all symptoms
i am 17 and going through similar symptoms but worse I would say. Every time I pass gas, I almost always need to use the rest room to do it bc blood comes out as well as mucous. I've had bloody stool for about a year now, and it has just recently inclined into this phase. My moms who is a nurse at a cancer center, had originally passed it off as nothing but now she is scheduling a app w the doctor to check it out.

my point is that yes it is rare to have colon caner at this age, but it is not impossible. if you are experiencing blood in ur stool, its a red flag. get it checked out asap.

IBS solutuion
Just throwing out a solution to IBS...I had this really bad in college that it affected my grades. The only thing that helped was Acupuncture. I had about 6-8 treatments and haven't had IBS for about 10 years! I've recently had similar symptoms though as the above posts which is how I found this forum. I'm wondering if my IBS is back or if I'm having an intolerance or allergy to certain foods that I'm eating. My son who is almost a year and a half has blood in his stool due to a milk allergy. I'm thinking of getting myself tested...

IBS, IBD
i found this forum very informative and can relate to each story, Im 30 year old female, had symptoms of blood in stoool mucus dioreha constipation i had a real fright with a bad flare up and that was the last straw for me as i kept putting it off to see a doc. A few times i went to doc he kept saying oh its just a viral bug and gave me antibotics, well the next time i went to see him i insisted on complete blood test and also to see a GI specialist, I did the whole klean prep colonoscopy endoscope etc, found out i had procitis and UC im now on colifoam and also have a check up at end of month, i will get a biopsy back soon and then i have to go for pelvic MRI. im so happy now that i finally did something about my bowel problems and i am getting treated, you know your own body and if you feel there is something wrong insist on blood test and get a referral to see a specialist, and dont stress you always think oh god i may be cancer and looking up on internet certainly doesnt help things but normally its something that is very treatable and nothing to worry about to much.......take care!

reb blood and mucus on my stool.

im having problem since 3 months, luckily here in germany we have all health care to take care in all the expenses.

Last week i was in a doctor, he want to see my anus but never did it - though they get some blood for test and getting that tomorrow afternoon.

Im actually thinking of something bigger - as im getting paranoid about this matter - maybe i'll do a drama effect so insurance pays all my office absences and got hospitalize free for deeper Test - Better to be sure whats really behind of this..

I hate waking up in the morning and i feel wet in my but and while wiping it its purely mucus..

Bloody mucus/tearing feel/diet pills....HELP!!
Today I felt like going to the bathroom after drinking coffee..which sometimes gives me the need to go pretty fast. After I went, I wiped and saw bright blood and almost a bloody mucus. Once in a while, I see bright blood, but very little and it always seems very obvious that it is from tearing of the rectum (??) because it happens when I am constipated and feel a ripping pain while I'm going.
This time worried me because I wasn't constipated at all...hence the coffee explanation. I'm still in a little pain about 6 hours later (pain as in a ripping feel, not cramps or anything like that)

Also, I did not see what the stools or toilet water looked like initially (I gave myself the courtesy flush)

I also am wondering if this is due to taking One A Day Women's Healthy Metabolism pills (similar to diet pills). I know diet pills can cause mucusy stool and maybe this was a mix of the pills and tearing...???

By the way, I am 27/female...and freaking out.

I have read all of the comments and i can only hope that everyone is doing ok. I have had some of the symptoms but the only thing that i do not have was blood in my stool. Ive had mucus, bloating, painful gas in my stomach, painful cramps to the point of passing out on the toilet, throwing up from the pain of cramping, sweats and nothing would stop the pain until the bowl movement would come out and it would be foul smelling and very soft. I would sometimes go for days without going to the bathroom. I did find out that i have colitis and gastritis. Well i have done allot of research and one thing i dont like is antibiotics. I have to be in really bad shape for me to take antibiotics. I will tell you that as of today i feel so much better. First i take Echinacea for my imune system, i take Probiotics to replace the good bacteria in my colon, which is taken by antibiotics. When you take antiobiotics it kills all the good bacteria in your colon, which will give you diarea. The most important stuff i take is called Chia Seeds!!!! I seen an episode of Dr Oz and he was talking about these seeds. So i did some research and i cant believe the difference! No more gas pain in my stomach, i was eating gasx, prilosec, zantac, well whatever i could get my hands on for the pain. I have no more cramping, im losing weight, i go to the bathroom regular now, my blood sugar has gone down and is regulated, my blood presure has went down, my cholesteral is good and last but not least i have more energy! Im not a doctor and i dont want to say that this is a cure but i have my friends and family taken the seeds and they are very happy. Also im 45 and i have allot of health problems and take pain meds cause of 2 neck surgerys but i feel so much better. I still have pain but this stuff has made a big difference in my life. Please take time to research this stuff and you will be surprized as to all the vitamins and health benefits. Its very cheap and well worth it! The only thing that i seen is if you are alergic to mustard seed you cant take it. Just do your research! (CHIA SEEDS) There is too much info for me to explain. I hope it helps. God Bless You and I hope everyone is doing well today..

hi. i am 24 years old, and experiencing the same symptoms. i have a bm every 3 days with some mucus and very little bright red blood. i went to the doctors few weeks ago, and he said it was most likely a hemmorhoid. i have been drinking fiber drinks as well as using a hemmorhoid cream for the past 2 weeks now, and there is still blood. im guessing its something else because now i also have had blood in my saliva. (often in the morning) ive also been having a metallic taste for awhile now, and get really tired during the day. any suggestions on what i should do?

Hi,
I am 54 and had my gall bladder out 3 years ago. Started having problems with my bowels after that, which I hear is somewhat common, so I haven't been too concerned over the last few years with my problems which go off and on depending on what I eat. Now however, I have been passing bloody mucus plugs which are freaking me out. My doctor is referring me to a surgeon who will do a colonoscopy, but it will probably take 2 months or so before that happens. I am not losing weight, and I don't really have too many gas pains or cramping, so I am not sure what is going on.. but it is very worrying. I did go on anti-biotics for over a month during July and had all sorts of stomach upsets over that. Wondering, hoping that the cause of all of this is yeast bacteria growth caused by the anti-biotics, but I don't know how realistic that is. sigh.

Desperate for some help
I need some help, I am 29 years old and have had stomach issues since I was a kid. At first they said I was retaining to much water and the when I was about 14 they diagnosed me with IBS? I have since had every test you can imagine to check for something more, but everything comes up fine. I have been experiencing not only mucuse and blood in my stool, but what I can only describe as milky clear jelly poo that is shaped like a bundle of grapes or a piece of ribbon candy. Does anyone know what this is?

hi, first i hope everyone is ok. it would help me enermously if people would come back and say what their diagnosis was. i am 45 and i found a lot of the posts quite reassuring to read. i have always had a lot of mucous in bm's. i suffer very hard stools because i take a lot of painkillers (co-codomol) for a neck problem, i have been on these for 15 years so i am used to the constipation. howver for the first time this morning i noticed a bit of blood mucous, then again tonight. i also feel some light cramping. im terrified of hospitals and doctors and tests and i dont look after my health very well because of this, but i am going to go to the doctor next week and tell him about the blood. i hope its nothing serious because i already have enough problems.

Bloody mucus and gas
I do a lot of reading and figured I'd post here to help fellow sufferers. It is frustrating not to see the end story so I'll try and update. I had non specific bleeding 20 years ago. Had colonoscopy which didn't explain the cause but they removed a polyp. Good thing I went, father had Colon Cancer in his 70's but that didn't kill him.He lived for another 15 years. At that time I chalked up the bleeding to milk. Every time I would have Milk again it would come back. Fast forward to 2 years ago. I had urgency to go right after a meal, mostly loose stool and mucus. Thought it was adderall. Getting off the adderall helped for sure but I finally figured out the gluten was 90% of the problem. No gluten and everything seemed to return to normal, I was seeing my doctor but I kind had to figure it out myself. He had just diagnosed me with IBS. My last Colonoscopy was probably 5 years ago and I'm due for one. I have diverticulosis and some internal hemoroids. Something else worth mentioning is for 40 years I sometimes especially at night get a Charlie horse pain in my anus. It hurts and wakes me up but goes away in 15 minutes, usually bowel movement helps with that. Currently I was feeling fine, had a few weak days and had some gluten, sandwiches, cookie etc. I had about a week of gassy loose stools with mucus. I figured it was pay back for the gluten but it is lasting too long. As of yesterday I have blood in the stool, not a lot but there for sure with plenty of mucous. I called the doctor and he can't see me until Thursday so I scheduled the appointment. I have gone to the bathroom 10 times in the last 12 hours but it is just mucus with a little blood and a lot of gas. I don't want to work tomorrow but I have things to do. The nurse told me to go to urgent care but I hate having strangers probe. I will see how I feel today and maybe go to urgent care or wait till Thursday.

Any of you people who are experiencing this stuff at a young age or any age please go see your Doctor! My father waited too long and ignored his symptoms. He wound up wearing a colostomy bag for the rest of his life cause he ignored the bleeding and symptoms. I'm going to pass some more bloody mucus and gas now. I'll report back later, I'm calling the doctor again when they open.

________
Update...
Saw the GP doctor, he was reluctant to send me for a Colonoscopy cause he said even though I had a Polyp 20 years ago I havent had any since. He sited the risks of going under unless necessary. My last 4 colonoscopies were polyp free. He took a look with a anascope and said I had some small hemorrhoids but no obvious signs of bleeding. He gave me some cream for the last inch of rectum, basically a Cortisone cream. I also discovered that vaporizing majuanna GREATLY reduced my mucus and blood, BIG TIME. I already had a script for it for sleeping issues. This time I stayed mildy high for the weekend. I was able to sleep all night and had no discharge for 12 hours, a miracle for me. He said it made sense since it is anti inflammatory. He told me to watch my diet and for me personally Gluten and wheat are huge triggers for these issues. If not Celiac I'm intolerant for sure. Anyone suffering or from Acid reflux please do yourself a favor and get off gluten for 2 weeks. You might be amazed. He gave me a blood check kit to use in 3 weeks but said if I wasn't a LOT better in 2 weeks he wanted to do a sigmoidoscopy. I do feel a lot better and symptoms are going away but have been taking a hit when I get home of the weed and using the cream. I'm also taking Benefil twice a day, that helps a lot for all of this
Wish everyone luck! I'll post back in a few weeks.
