Syphilis Blood Test and Appearance of Antibodies

I had a sore on my lips about 10 days after having anonymous sex.
I went to a clinic and they did a blood test which came back "non reactive".

I later read that antibodies can appear only 6-8 weeks after exposure. Does it mean that the results I received may be inaccurate (at this stage)?

Thanks,
GBR

Thanks for your question.
You are right. Many STDs take time to show a positive result.
Here’s how long after exposure we can get a reliable test result:
2 weeks: gonorrhea and chlamydia
1 week to 3 months: syphilis
6 weeks to 3 months: HIV, hepatitis C and B
I hope I was able to address your query. If you have any further problems, please do not hesitate to go to the doctor.
Wishing you all the best.
