Grateful
Thank you all for posting. I went through a lot of what you're going through, and hearing from others who have the same symptoms and get through every day really helps. I've started eating greek yogurt and it's helped a lot. My pain was in my lower back, and it's stayed away for the longest period of time in 3 years now that I've started the greek yogurt. It took about a month of eating one cup daily, but I'm really starting to feel a little better. Sleep is super important, too! Hang in there, everyone!

You know what is really weird with my Ulcerative proctitis? When I eat junk food for a few days it seems to calm down a lot! As soon as I start eating healthy it seems to flare up again haha. Today I am going on a different approach and am starting an excersize schedule to see if that helps. I hear that it can help a great deal if you do regular cardio workouts... lets see if it works Smile I will post about it!

Good luck figuring out what exactly is wrong with your colon MyStomachHurts. It might be a combination of UC and IBS?

Glad to hear greek jogurt helps you dazenandamused Smile

hiya everyone, im just after abit of advice on what to do about my problem or if it sounds anything like something you may have experienced yourselves, iv noticed blood on tissue after a bowel movement now since i was around 8 years old (now 26) and pain like being scratched inside quite alot, i never told anyone at the time as being only 8 i was petrified but the suffer in silence type ha, iv since been in hospital with pain in my stomach a few times that strong i almost pass out, they gave me antispasmodics and told me they 'think' its ibs never having given me a serious diagnosis on this i gave up going to my doctor fearing he just didnt want to know, he seems quite disgusted at the idea if im honest, makes me feel very uncomfortable, anyway, i dont suppose iv ever had the best diet as i do love crisps and sweets, im 5ft5 and weigh around 114lbs, so dont put weight on too easily, in general i dont think i go to the toilet without seeing blood on my stool, and i also get mucus, but this mucus is not white as you all explain its dark yellowish, and it hurts to go virtually everytime, i do suffer alot with consipation and always try to cut the junk out of my diet but it doesnt seem to help, any advice on what to do next or?? hope your all well, thanks xxx

I would advise to go and see a GP, it might some kind of chronic infection, as above... you might also need some blood tests done.

mucous covered stool
i have something like this happen to me 4 days ago. i suddenly woke up one morning with a pain in my stomach which i thought was just gas. i also began having constipation with me passing out small bits of normal colored but sometimes mucous covered stool with a lot of gas, although it doesn't smell, which is really different from my usual. i've been going to the bathroom twice a day as from my normal once a day habit, and i haven;t changed the timing of how i eat or what i eat, although i've lessened my food intake. is this something i should be concerned about or is this just regular constipation? i'm only 19, but there has been a history of different kinds of cancer on my mother's side of the family and my lifestyle is a bit sedentary (as a student) and i do eat fast food twice or thrice a week.

icyxbluexkitty, hi, i was just wondering you say your suffering constipation? but youve been going the loo 2 times in a day, what makes you say its constipation? is it hard to pass? v small amounts? im glad to say mine went back to normal after about 2 weeks and im putting mine down to over eating of junk foods! lol my own fault, im saying lol but actually it really isnt funny, it hurts a stupid amount! but if your saying you eat junk food too, try and cut it out completely and see how you feel after a week or 2, then start eating it again and see if that has an effect maybe? or if your feeling aot better just cut it out completely or as much as you possibly can, i know how lovely junk food is and hard to resist hehe wishing u well hun x

hi dianna25. Smile

um, well i guess i termed it constipation just 'cause i always feel this need to go the bathroom but i end up excreting just 2-5 small (as in literally just a bit larger than pea size) pieces of stool sometimes with mucous, sometimes without. i guess it's just that i've actually lessened what im eating, including junk foods and stuff, so i can't really say im excessively eating junk foods, although school food isn't exactly the healthiest. and yeah, im not a big vegetable or fruit eater. i guess im just worried 'cause there's a strong history of cancer in my family. although yeah, is it still constipation if i go a lot of times and just pass little amounts of stool?

thanks so much! Smile

no worries sweet, yeah huni id say so, you dont want it as bad as i have it tho so few tips for you iv found do help me when im suffering ( as i can go sometimes a week without going at all, and sit on the toilet in the past for 40mins struggling to go and bleeding, ouch, not nice) but i find that drinking alot of water helps, may help flush out toxins also, and sounds strange but eating apples actually helped me! i dont think personally you have anything to worry about where cancer is concerned, i think youd know if you had that huni, there would be alot more to it than your symptoms, i also find that eating alot of fibre in my diet helps, i dont know where your from hun but if you can get hold of bran flakes, try eating those for your breakfast with a glass of water in a morning and then see how you go in the day, i know it doesnt sound the most exciting thing in the world to eat lol but it may just help, hope your ok x

haha. i think we have that here in the Philippines, although it's not the most delicious cereal in the world. Smile) thanks so much for the advice! yeah, my brother says i should try loosening my bowels the natural way--like eating the stuff you said, but i guess it's 'cause i never have time to fix it up 'cause im always rushing and stuff, and im not fond of them, but i will try, 'cause it's not painful (yet) but i do want to return to my normal bowel movement.

thank you so much, dianna25. Smile i'll take your advice (at least try to. haha. for my sake.).are you a doctor or something? but even if you aren't, i'm still trying what you said. Smile

IBS/constipation/bloody stool with mucus
I've had IBS for at least 14 years and the only thing consistent about my bowel habits is that I usually go every day at least once. This morning, I found this thread because I had bright red blood and mucus mixed into my stool and just wanted to make sure there was nothing too serious to be concerned about. It's reassuring to read the accounts of people who are so willing to share the details! I'm on antibiotics for strep throat and was a little constipated first thing this morning (stool was firmer that usual and somewhat difficult to pass, felt scratchy coming out) Mucus and blood was in a later stool, so I'm thinking it is just superficial bleeding near the end of the line.

I have noticed blood and mucus off and on over the years, but usually coincides with slight constipation or other mucus-producing illness or allergies. It was helpful to read here about internal hemorhoids..I didn't know you could have painless ones inside that couldn't be seen or felt.
...I live on high fiber diet to control IBS (it works so well, I no longer need antispasmoidal meds) and recently have been on a weight loss plan supervised by a Nurse Practitioner. Travel and illness are two factors that can really throw me off of my meal plan. I can't stress enough how important a high-fiber, well-balanced diet free of junk and plenty of water are. I hope sharing my experience will be helpful to someone.

I try not to obsess about my bm, because I know what IBS can cause, but I do try to be observant. I'm willing to live with a lot of loose stools, soft stools and the occassional need to run to the bathroom (drawbacks of the high fiber diet) because that is typically better than dealing with constipation and bowel spasms, which can be very painful. I have three children and would rather experience the pains of childbirth than the extreme gas, bloating and spasmatic bms that I sometimes get when my diet is off or when I'm really under a lot of stress.

Hey Spoox

I want to thank you for your honesty in reporting exactling what has been happening to you. I have been having the exact same problems with my bowel movements (muscus and bright red blood) and I am so thankful I have found this blog. I have been to a Gastro and he basically dismissed me saying that my problems were just in my head. Now that I know it definitely not I'm going to go get a colonoscopy and see what happens from there. Thank you Very much

it is always nice to know that you're not alone with these symptoms Smile I hope you all went to see your doctors and talked about it openly with him/her. Sometimes it helps to write down your symptoms while at home and then take it to the doctor.
If you are anything like me then you probably forget half the things you wanted to ask so I always make notes before I go see my doc haha.

After I went through the twice daily supositories things seemed to have gotten worse a little but lately I have normal BM's and no blood/mucus! Maybe I am jusy in remission but either way, I feel great! Smile

tissue in stool
maybe a little late but first, do a parasite cleanse, then follow with liver and kidney cleanses. after that start doing colonics and get some help from herbal remedies such as dr reckweg's products or any of the liquid forms of bacterial and viral remedies - the more the better. from what i can tell, the doctors can't do anything until it turns to cancer or some other debilitating form. it's taken me 4 years to figure out all my problems, i'm almost there and i feel 150% better. you can do it yourself now-a-days but you will need to keep asking a lot of questions from health care people.

I know this thread has been around for a while. I have the same problem for years now and can offer what helps me. I had a colonoscopy (with no anesthesia by choice) and they found hemmorhoids. To ease things, I went on a strict diet of brown rice at every meal, except oatmeal for breakfast, only plain no fat yogurt (can drizzle honey), have at least 1tablespoon of the yogurt a 3 times a day, eat no lettuce of any kind, eat fresh cooked vegetables, eat only blueberries and canteloup (no seeds), only 3-4 ounces of meat, eggs are good, lots of water (no other drinks - sorry), and only rice bread. Stay away from sugar and processed foods as much as possible. Be careful of too much fiber as it can aggrevate things. As a matter of fact, try this diet first then slowly add more fiber. After a few weeks, everything improved tremendously. The pain I had sitting at times went away when the meds were not working. The periodic bleeding eased up. What was great was that the rice was actually easy as I make 4-6 servings at a time, store it in the fridge, and just sautee in olive oil different veggies then add the rice for each meal. Anything I like on bread, I put on the rice, even fried eggs. It really works.

It is hard to stick with the diet permanently but it helps to go back to it when things return. I still feel something else is going on but they cannot detect it yet. I was interested in this thread to see what others found. If I eat bad (too much beans, cheese, or milk), symptoms of mucous comes back. Diet is a definite key issue so anyone with a problem with mucous should try an elimination diet to see what foods are bothering you, that is if the doctors cannot find an explanation. And always ask your doctor if any diet you try is ok. I hope this helps.

I got rid of gallstones jan/feb and opened up the bile duct; that helped with a bit of the pain (front and back). now all i'm left with is the tissue and stomach/upper intestine bacteria. i still don't know excactly what it is (stool samples come out that there's nothing wrong). Recently I want back on the para cleanse (artemesia, wormwood, cloves and black walnut). I've had three 12" strings of mucus. I showed one to my doc and she says likely tapeworm, but there again, it doesn't show up in tests. I do colinics weekly and take all kinds of intestinal cleansing products now. I feel I'm almost over it now but still have pain, tiredness, etc. I went to the pet store to get de-worming pills for dogs since no doctors or specialists will acknowledge problems like this. It's been a 5 year effort but trying to fix one problem at a time. Hang in there, and cleanse. Mini enemas with warm water and a bit of vinegar sure cleans out the small intestines.

I'm sorry if my input alarms anyone. I have a lot of pain right now. I do a lot of colonics and cleansing of intestines. The other day I got rid of a 14" piece of stringy tissue - I took it into my doc - I have put in over 30 stool samples to her - none show anything wrong. I have to take a T3 for the pain, yes it goes through to the mid back - this is generally from liver toxification from what I can tell. I went to the pet store to buy de-worming pills since my doc won't prescribe anything for me unless it is in print. My natuorpath can tell me (bio-resonnance machine) but can't write prescriptions. tonight is a full moon, I doubled up on all the herbals. I have been battling this for over 4 years and it is difficult to get answers. The only thing I can tell you is if you have a friend who is a vet, ask them about para's; or if you want to go the expensive way like me - over $1000/mth, get somebody that can do a bio-ressonance test and do the herbals/osteo/acupuncture. Figure it out - all the stuff we put in the water (sewage) we drink.
