Hello Preettyfullll,

I would highly encourage you to see your doctor as soon as you can. Don't delay. Someone of your age should not have back pain from standing 10 minutes.

PLEASE do see your doctor. Would you be so kind as to let us know what you find out? Thanks

Hi Preettyfulll

Do you get like 'stabbing' or 'cramping' pains running down the back of your legs from yer buttocks at all ? ...

I'm glad you are changing doctors, and soon, as this kind of pain can be sciatica, a trapped sciatic nerve, which is really painful .... and it's a strain to stand, and sometimes sit in the same position for very long ..

Take care, and good luck .... keep us posted

Back pain from standing
I had this problem and it turned out to be overly tight hamstrings which were pulling on muscles of my lower back causing muscle strain.

I had read comments from over a dozen back specialists and none of them mentioned this as a possible cause. I found a comment on one of the blogs about someone who suffered for years before realizing this was his problem. If this is your problem you will need to do hamstring stretching exercises.

Sarah_1856, Alinaswe, and Guvis,

All 3 of you need to see a spine specialist, either an orthopedic surgeon that specializes in spines or a neurosurgeon that specializes in spines only.

You need a full spine exam and evaluation to determine what is going on with your spines and what tests you may or may not need.

Don't delay, get an appointment and find out what is going on. The longer you wait, the worse your spines will get, with the potential for nerve compression that can become permanent nerve damage and result in permanent pain.

Good luck

Back pain when standing as well
Hi guys,

I''m a 28 years old male and have had severe back pain when standing for at least a few years. Sitting and walking are usually not a problem, just standing in one spot for more than 10 mins. I saw an orthopaedtic surgeon last summer (got an MRI) who said I had arthritis and a small bulge in a disc. He said core exercise was the way to go. Still hasn''t made much of a difference, I think I will try hamstring stretching.

Yeah, for about 4 months I went to one. I''m going to start going to a new one this week, see what he thinks. My hamstrings are pretty tight, maybe that ham stretch will make a difference.

does it feel better if you bend knees slightly and try to thrust pelvis forward? does any position change help. does it matter what shoes you are wearing?

Shoes don''t seem to make a difference, I''ve bought quite a few pairs in the last year. Bending a foot forward does help a little bit. Goes with the fact that it doesn''t seem to hurt when I walk. The worst is on the subway where I have to stand in the same spot for 15 mins or so.

another thing you could try is bend toes up and put weight on heel when standing in subway....

Relief from back pain
I have a same pain as described by many. I followed all exercises adviced by doctors but no relief. Ultimately I have developed an exercise myself which has given me good results. I want to share with you. if you want.
