There is a point. Enjoy, breath deeply the smells around you. Find beauty everwhere you go. Contemplate the amazement in a single flower. I can find astounding joy in the smallest things. The other point of my life is to help other people find the joy in it as well.

Every day when i am riding my bike to work, I face the most beautiful range of mountains. every morning where I live (almost) the sun is shining its beautiful face down on me and I just think to myself how lucky I am that there is so much beauty around me.

Well, Agathe

I think that depends on your stance.

I figure we are a little of both.

But... are you speaking person or forum?

We as a person act, we as a forum react!

So I was running today and alluvasudden this song comes on my MP3 Player that I didn't ever put on there, and it's not even an CD I own (weird), but anyway, it was like kizmet, because it felt like it was written for me and it was the perfect cadence for running anyways. The lyrics made me think of this topic. You can find it on Youtube. It's by Jamiraquai.

Corner of the Earth

Little darlin' don't you see the sun is shining
Just for you, only today
If you hurry you can get a ray on you, come with me, just to play
Like every humming bird and bumblebee
Every sunflower, cloud and every tree
I feel so much a part of this
Nature's got me high and it's beautiful
I'm with this deep eternal universe
From death until rebirth

This corner of the earth is like me in many ways
I can sit for hours here and watch the emerald feathers play
On the face of it I'm blessed
When the sunlight comes for free
I know this corner of the earth it smiles at me
So inspired of that there's nothing left to do or say
Think I'll dream, 'til the stars shine

The wind it whispers and the clouds don't seem to care
And I know inside, that it's all mine
It's the chorus of the breakin' dawn
The mist that comes before the sun is born
To a hazy afternoon in May
Nature's got me high and it's so beautiful
I'm with this deep eternal universe from death until rebirth

You know that this corner of the earth is like me in many ways
I can sit for hours here and watch the emerald feathers play
On the face of it I'm blessed
When the sunlight comes for free
I know this corner of the earth it smiles at me
I know this corner of the earth it smiles at me
I know this corner of the earth it smiles at me
I know this corner of the earth it smiles at me
I know this corner of the earth it smiles at me

This corner of the earth, is like me in many ways
I can sit for hours here and watch the emerald feathers play
On the face of it I'm blessed
When the sunlight comes for free
I know this corner of the earth it smiles at me

No life has no point. Humans are the same as dogs except we are more advanced. Animals. Complex molecular compounds, nothing more.

so a dog has no point to live?

what about to bring happiness and companionship to people and families?
or to serve the dissabled or police force?
or serve as drug dogs/bomb /search dogs?
or to rescue people who are burried in the snow?
Confused

You get up each day to work and get paid, and you buy things that make you happy. When not at work, you do things that make you happy. It's not thee ultimateth point in life but at least it's something that makes your life more fun to live in.

You don't get up each day for one and only sake do you ? There's much we'd like to do in life. I agree we rarely have a real focused point, but we do have our own interests and several goals we'd like to accomplish. Some people consider that as the point in life, others don't.

Chocolate ice-cream from the Danish ice-cream parlour near my grandad's flat in Limassol. God, that is good ice-cream.

Oh yeah, and happiness and stuff. But mostly the ice-cream.

The point of life is to live. What you add to that is your own business. I feel MY purpose in life is to learn.

I'm talking about life in general. We have no proof of a God, so as far as we are concerned, there really is no point to life. And yes, it does make it pretty hard to get up in the morning. I apologize if I offend anyone but my personal belief is that religion was created to give people hope and is used as a distraction from the fact that humans aren't special.

Again I'm not talking about personal lives, as I thought the topic referred to life in general. If it were referring to personal lives, the entire thread shouldn't even exist.

Why, and why? Why did you think it applied to all life, and why do you think the topic shouldn't exist?

The purpose of all life?

I personally think that's a silly question, from the viewpoint of a scientist. Life EXISTS, and the lack of a reason for it doesn't mean there is "no" reason. It's hard to explain. Basically, just because there isn't a clear "reason" doesn't mean life is "meaningless".

Ok so this thread should be retitled to "What makes you happy"? Also seeing as this is a debate forum, I don't think that would be properly placed.
