For almost all women ovulation often takes place within the 10th and 14th day after the start of their last period. It actually depends on your menstrual cycle. If you have a 28 day cycle, expect to ovulate on the 14th day. That would be 14 days before your next menstruation.

If you're having a problem with this you can always use some tests to know or predict ovulation. You can use the basal body temperature test, charting your cervical mucus, and other ovulation monitoring test like the spit test etc.

missmiltonkeynes, Your menstrual cycle length is the number of days from your first period day until the last day before your next period. You will ovulate between 12 and 16 (typically 14) days BEFORE your next period. So if your cycles are more or less the same length every time, you can predict it accurately.

There are other signs you can use to track ovulation. You can use the google to look for 'fertility awareness method' (FAM).Your basal body temperature rises, your cervical mucus becomes wet, transparent and stretchy like raw egg-whites, your cervix drops to lower in your vagina, becomes soft and open, you will feel good, healthy and horny, your skin will be smooth and glowing. In short, your body will try to make you more attractive to men so that you can mate and conceive.

As AmyKris said, there are also ovulation test kits that can help you.
