Three months of no period but no sex. Could I be pregnant?

I have never had sex but I have cuddled naked with my boyfriend but he has never gone into me.
I have missed 3 cycles of my period which is making me very worried.
I took a pregnancy after missing 3 months and it was negative-could it be wrong?
I exercise a lot, but seem to be gaining weight.
Is there any possible way that I could be pregnant?
What else could be wrong with me if I am not pregnant?

Hello, and thanks for your medical question on eHealth forum!

Even if you have never had proper intercourse, if your partner’s semen has fallen on your vaginal opening or trickled down into it, it can make you pregnant.

If urine pregnancy test is negative then go for a quantitative blood pregnancy test. I suggest you get quantitative HCG estimation is blood at 48 hours intervals. If the levels are negative at the first test, then you will get your periods sometime soon (however you may need to take medication for it). If the levels are positive on first test and drop on the second test, it is likely to be a miscarriage. If the levels are positive and doubling on the second test, it is a confirmed pregnancy.

If you are not pregnant then you should look for other causes. Sometimes a craving for a child leads a woman to experience pregnancy like symptoms. Liver (hepatitis), gall bladder and kidney problems too can cause these symptoms. IBS, acidity and GERD too should be ruled out. Hormone imbalance, PCOD, prolactinomas, adrenal gland problems and thyroid problems too are the other possibilities.

Since a confirmed diagnosis cannot be given on net please consult your gynecologist regarding this. Hope this helps. Take care!
