Hello, I had a hectic work schedule during the last fortnight with irregular food intake and since last 3-4 days, I am having mild abdominal pain. I underwent an ultrasound scan. The report makes an impression that the liver is mildly enlarged in size (16.5 cm) with increased echo-pattern. All other attributes are normal. Please advice the inference of the report.

Thank you for asking

Hectic work has nothing to do with liver size. Slight hepatomegaly needs to be correlated with a detailed history and physical examination. Food intake and pain may indicate some infection but this increased echo pattern needs alittle work up.

Could be some fatty liver or a hepatitis or a fibrosis. Needs work up. Get a gastroenterologist and let them take care of it.

Good luck
