Hi,

Welcome to the ehealthforum and I am really glad to help you out.

HCG can first be detected by a blood test about 11 days after conception. In general the hCG levels will double every 72 hours. The level will reach its peak in the first 8 - 11 weeks of pregnancy and then will decline and level off for the remainder of the pregnancy.

In your case the serum HCG levels are decreasing. Low HCG levels may indicate possible miscarriage or an ectopic pregnancy. But low HCG levels are not the only indicator for a possible miscarriage. A perfectly healthy pregnancy may have low hCG levels also.

The most reliable method is by doing a transvaginal or transbadominal ultrasound. You may get a transvaginal ultrasound one to detect heartbeat. Some women may not even have a detectable heart beat at 5 weeks gestation and then we repeat the transvaginal ultrasound after 1 week-10 days.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations, and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
