I have this feeling that I am pregnant. However, I get this feeling alot, even when I am not. I feel this time might be legit. My last period started on January 8th, and I had sexual intercourse on the 18th. We used protection, and filled the condom with air to test for holes. I have been tired throughout the days, and found it hard to fall asleep. However, I've always had sleep issues. My lower abdomin feels, "full". I have also gained very little wieght. Its like a constant steady painless push, pressure. I've also noticed that my nipple has become darker. My breasts have also been aching slightly with discomfort, even if not touched. My brests also feel more "full". Shortly after the 18th, I felt nausea at night. But that has stopped now. I know it is to early to take a hpt, but I was hoping there would be some way of knowing whether or not I am pregnant.

Early Pregnancy Signs and Symptoms Answer A9627
Hello,

Pregnancy only occurs if intercourse occurs within the 6 days prior to and including ovulation. The best timing of intercourse in order to conceive is day 10, 12, 14 and 16 (in case of late ovulation) of a 28 day cycle. So if you had a normal menstrual cycle on the 8th of January, the ovulation should have been around the 21st of January considering you had regular periods prior to that. So your fertile period had started on the 17th of January. Any unprotected intercourse on the above mentioned dates can result in pregnancy. You had protected intercourse, so chances of pregnancy are reduced.

For confirming the status of pregnancy by a urine for pregnancy test (UPT), the most accurate way to test for pregnancy is to wait until after your period is due. The first appearance of the pregnancy hormone, HCG, due to implantation occurs 6-12 days after ovulation. So if you don’t want to wait for your periods and test for pregnancy then you can test at 9 or 10 days past ovulation with a sensitive ( 20 - 25 mIU ) pregnancy test. The Aimstrip pregnancy test gives good results and can detect 20 mIU of HCG. I sincerely suggest that you do a urine for pregnancy test and if the test comes back negative, then please wait for your periods and repeat the test after 1 week of your missed periods date. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For an exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
