The commercial $value of cholesterol lowering

Has anyone her ever thought about the total commercial value of selling cholesterol lowering?

For starters, the statin drug industry grosses $30 Billion per year worldwide. Thats 300 Billion in one decade.

Lets not forget to add global total gross revenues from office visits to address the "high cholesterol" issue with the physician.

Then add the world total annual gross revenue for cholesterol lab work.

We are not done yet. Now add world total annual gross revenue for the supplement industry selling products to help lower cholesterol.

There's more. Now add Cheerios and Quaker Oats jumping on the bandwagon touting the cholesterol lowering properties of their product, and how much it boosts their sales.

How much is the commercial value of lowering cholesterol? There are not enough zeros on my calculator to add it all up.

Hello, and welcome to E Health Forum.

High cholesterol is a disorder that arises due to abnormal lifestyle and eating habits.

People due to stress and their busy lifestyles depend on junk food for their daily calorie needs.

Food industry also advertises and propagates abnormal and unhealthy eating habits both among growing children and among adults. The value of healthy foods has been forgotten and has led people believe that taste matters more.

There is no shortcut to health.

People first pay for unhealthy fast foods.

Then they pay for side effects of the food by developing conditions like GERD,gastritis, peptic ulcer disease, gallstones, etc.

Then they pay for medicines to correct the conditions developed due to their unhealthy lifestyles.

Overall people have to pay to ruin their health, and then pay to get it back.

All this can stop, when everyone develops some sense of how they live their life.

I hope this helps.

Very good! Lifestyle makes the difference. Your right! They do pay to ruin health, and they pay to get it back.

People pay for Twinkies, Whiskey and Cigarettes. All of which destroy health.

Then they have to pay for all the lifestyle changes to restore health. New running shoes $95. Road bike $1,200.
Membership at the Gym $40/ month....
