If a person, let's say teenage boy, gets in the car accident and gets a big head trauma which causes him to become deaf, can he talk anymore? Obviously, he loses his hearing but does the head trauma affect on his talking or other things? I know it's hard to answer this question without any details but I'm curious since I know that many can't talk at all if they are born deaf. Is there, for an example, a certain age when the talking becomes more harder if a person can't hear?

Thank you for asking at Ehealth forum!

I read your question and i understand your concern. Deafness which is acquired does not affect speaking as by the time talking skills are developed, its only congenital deafness that is associated with inability to speak.

I hope it helps. Stay in touch with your healthcare provider for further guidance as our answers are just for education and counselling purposes and cannot be an alternative to actual visit to a doctor.
