Anxiety and Stress Answer A9195

Welcome to the ehealthforum and I am really glad to help you out. From the symptoms it looks like your partner is having post traumatic stress disorder. Symptoms of PTSD include irritability, violent outbursts, trouble working or socializing, flashbacks or intrusive images and losing touch with reality. The symptoms of PTSD may resemble other psychiatric conditions. So please consult a psychiatrist to rule out other possibilities. Treatment involves beta adrenergic blockers such as propranolol (Inderal), alpha2-adrenergic agonists such as clonidine, antidepressants, valproic acid (an anticonvulsant and mood stabilizer), and benzodiazepines (sedatives and anti-anxiety drugs) and these should be taken against a prescription.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For an exact diagnosis, you are advised to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
