Welcome to e health forum.

Cancer is a physiologically abnormal growth or development of a tissue. The change can either be increase or decrease in volume of the tissue, with changes in internal functioning of the normal tissue or change of the tissue to a entirely different cell type with variable functioning.

Such type of abnormal tissue growth in the pharynx is commonly called as throat cancer.

The type of cancer can be assessed only after histopathological examination of the tissue after proper excision.

The cause of cancer can be due to various factors including - genetic predisposition, environmental exposures, smoking, use of tobacco products in oral form (pan, gutkha, tobacco pan masala), etc.

Symptoms can include - difficulty in swallowing, throat pain, hoarseness of voice, chronic cough, coughing of blood, loss of weight and in severe cases difficulty in breathing.

Treatment depends on the clinical presentation and extent of the condition. Options include surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy or a combination of all them.

It would be recommended to consult your doctor who can examine you and then provide proper medical opinion and advice.

I hope this helps.
