Super enlarged prostate

Hi, I’m 71 years old and have a super large prostate at 300cc. I can still urinate reasonably well and my Prostate score is only 4. My consultant says that I may have to travel to Cambridge to have the gland reduced by the Holup method. I have heard of new medication that can effectively shrink the gland, I already take Finistride and Tamsuloson which I have taken for the past 12 years, when my prostate was only the size of a Grapefruit, not the Coconut that it now is. Any help andabvice would be welcome. The gland is not cancerous. Regards James.

Thank you for asking at Ehealth forum!

I read your question and i understand your concern. Holmium laser enucleation of prostate and trans urethral resection of prostate are both good procedures and should be used for this case of yours where end residual volume is more than 300 cc.

I hope it helps. Stay in touch with your healthcare provider for further guidance as our answers are just for education and counselling purposes and cannot be an alternative to actual visit to a doctor.
Take care
