suffering from anxiety! Will it ever go away...? (Page 1)

Hi, Im Majesty, and I have been suffering from anxiety for almosta year now! Can you please tell me som exercises that I can do so that I can focus on positive and not negavtive please. And also, it only happens when I lay down , but someone told me its just a bad experience you;ve had that's just stuck in your mind. Will it ever go away...Please, Please reply back Doctor. Thank-you SO VERY MUCH!!!!

First of all, if your anxiety has started with experiencing something traumatic or unwanted, it is likely, though not a rule, that the anxiety comes to you when you are reminded of that incidence or experience. It can go away if you work on the issue. You may need the help of a psychotherapist or a counselor.

There are some exercises you can do to reduce the anxiety levels. You can read more about "Jacobson's Progressive Muscle Relaxation" technique. This exercise can take about 10 minutes of your time and you can do it any time of the day when you feel tired or stressed. This exercise needs to be done regularly.

For the purpose of being able to focus on the positive, you may need to find out what your thoughts are about the anxiety and the whole situation. If you can identify if you have thoughts that are not helping you, it will be easier to modify them into thoughts that help you relax. This is usually done in a structured way in psychotherapy. And psychotherapy is a recommended treatment for anxiety issues.
