Welcome to e health forum.

Alopecia areata is a recurrent nonscarring type of hair loss that can affect any hair-bearing area and can manifest in many different patterns.

Though most people have varying degree of recovery of hair growth, about 10% people with this condition may not have good benefit with treatment.

Such individuals would have the following issues -

1. Family history of the condition.
2. Early onset of the condition (before puberty) or long lasting episodes (more than 1 year)
3. Have other autoimmune diseases - like atopic dermatitis, Vitiligo, thyroid diseases, Stress or anxiety disorders.
And - 4. Have extensive loss of hair

Since you have not provided what treatment you have undergone so far, and non availability of clinical examination findings, it would not be feasible to provide appropriate treatment options for you.

But treatment with Topical or injecitons of corticosteroids, Topical Minoxidil or other immunosuppressives are possible with people with this condition.

It would be recommended that you consult a dermatologist who can examine you and provide proper medical opinion.

I hope this helps.
